Has anyone tried to polish the inside of the muffler tips? It's bugging me that only about the 1st half inch is smooth and shiny, the rest of the chambers the aluminum is rough surface and stays dirty as crap.

Curious what, if any steps could smooth and polish out the tubes a few inches in so it's not always discolored.

I've tried some aluminum polish but that does nothing it's so rough. Assume some 400 grit sandpaper and then polish or is there a better idea?

I'd think the ID would be pretty easy. As always, start with the least aggressive method and work your way up.

I know you want to go deeper in the ID, but here's an example:

You could always try one of those drill attachments with the small sandpaper pads.

This might work. You'd need to figure out what diameter you need and I'd get a fairly fine grit. It's pretty flexible, so you don't want a brush that is a smaller diameter than the smallest surface you would be polishing. I've used these in all sorts of applications.
