It took me two days to finish but I was in no hurry. I still would like to get it more polished but they look way better. Here are some pics.

I dont know if it was worth 2 days of sanding but oh well. It looks better to me.

I tried to make them shine!! After I cleaned the rust off with a wire wheel I sanded them from 85 grit to 4000 and they didnt really shine up that well. They were pretty bad off from the get go though. I might try another kind of polish today though.

They look better, but still don't have that polished look. You might need to spend more time on each grit getting the scratches out from the previous grit. I spent a couple hours a day for 4 days doing mine and they came out pretty good.

I wish mine came out as good as his did. I did it basically the same way.

i believe that the MAC catback is made out of aluminum, you can't get it to shine like 04sleepers. if you want a shine like that you have to have a stainless steel catback.

but it looks good

You could always paint them with flat black high-temp paint. Not like polishing them has performance benefits or anything...

After 2 days of messing with them and polishing them with various different polishes I think that is the best they will come. Mine were pretty bad off to start with and have quite a bit of pitting so I am happy with them the way they are.
