Well our new to us 90 vert has a neglected engine bay. The paint will definitely need work as well.

I ordered up some Wolfgang engine cleaner that I'll try first. What I like about it is you can just wipe it off or use water. My first attempt will be just wiping it off. I have a feeling this will be very tedious and might work better on a cleaner engine bay.

I've had pretty good luck with other Wolfgang products.

I'll update this thread with any progress that's made.

Your trying to not do a hose wash, Brady? I think a spray, letting it soak in a bit, followed by a good direct stream hose down is going to give you the best results. If you're worried about electronics getting wet, cover/wrap those parts/areas with plastic.

Yeah that will be my first attempt. If the results are not satisfactory, then I use some water. I do get a little uneasy using water in the engine bay.

Hello Brady,

I know it's low priority, but do you plan on getting rid of that chrome BBK intake pipe? Doesn't really seem to go with anything.

Just curious.

Yes sir,

Already found a OEM used air intake. Should be here by Friday. I've also debated on getting rid of the bbk throttle body, bigger mass air sensor and under drive pulleys.

Maybe eventually.

Yeah, you mentioned that earlier. Understandable, but if done right you should be fine. Let us know how the waterless clean works for you.

Try the Por15 degreaser/cleaner. I use it for everything around the shop.

I definitely will. More than likely I'll have to run some water for best results.

Maybe I can try out this Venus sprayer filled with water.

Does that have a pinpoint spray head? If so, that will certainly help getting the water where you want it.

I've had good luck with a diluted mix of Simple Green and water to spray/mist on.
Be careful with water and the electrics (cover with plastic grocery bags and tape off).
You will need a couple of brushes (a small one to get in the nooks and crannies).
Carefully mist of the cleaner mixture when you are done cleaning (do not let dry).
My favorite when done is Sonus Trim & Motor Kote it has a matte (showroom) look.

Let's see some pics when it's done!

Thanks for the input! I might have to pick one of those up myself.

That black paint looks GOOD!

I’ve used the hose and diluted simple green on my cobra engine before and the only issue I had was water getting in the rear coils. If there’s something you don’t want to get wet just cover with plastic bags.

I made a little progress with just a damp rag and elbow grease. Still waiting on my engine cleaner.

A bit better. Brady, are you going to do something with the intake tag? The lettering is pretty much gone.

This shiny intake is really upsetting the balance of the thread...I call for an immediate removal :)

You said you were going with a stock box...wonder if you can paint the BBK?
