Has anyone ever fixed or replaced the wiring running from the OEM fuel pump wiring to the OEM fuel pump hat?

The best way to do this is to replace the bad wiring with new wiring. But one end of the wire is plugged into the fuel pump connector and the other end runs to a connector that is riveted into the hat. If I can disconnect at least one of the ends I can minimally run some heat shrink over the areas to protect them. But i'm not sure how to depin this particular connector and I'm not sure how to remove and/or reattach the end that is riveted to the hat.

Any thoughts?

That's a tough one. If you can't figure out how to unpin the connector, I would just cut wire on the bad spot. Slide a piece of this marine sink tube on one side, then strip back enough insulation to solder the wires together, then slide shrink tube over the newly soldered connection and shrink it down. The glue inside of the shrink tube will seal it off. Only thing is I would do a little more research on the longevity of the shrink tubing with fuel. Looks like it's rated for oil and acid so it's probably ok but if I was using it on my car I'd research it first. Good luck.

I'm going to try to unpin the connector. The thing about soldering is I'm horrible at it. I've practiced so many times. Watched so many how to videos. I've got a good gun and the most recommended flux. I still suck. But if it comes down to it I might give it a shot.

Heat shrink is another issue. I have plenty of heat shrink. Some say you need a special type. Some say you don't. I'll have to do more research on it. But I know that people connect wiring on these pumps with all sorts of cheap butt connectors and such. So i'm not sure exactly how crucial it is. At the same time this is the 4th time i've dropped this tank. I'm over it. I want to do it right and be DOOOOOOOOOONNNNNEEEE.

IIRC it's just a spade connector and it clips into place. I think a small wire like half a cotter pin should slide in and pop it loose.

I would solder as others have mentioned but be sure to use fuel resistant shrink tube.

The connector for the pumps can be disassembled to completely replace the wires. The problem will be finding the Metri Pack Terminals. Some are easily found others not so much.

You can also look into replacing the entire pig tail and soldering/crimping on new terminals. It looks like you can simply release them by bending the tabs up.

Hope this helps.
