SOLD
I’ve decided to sell my cobra. I bought it through a forum member almost 5 years ago and its been a great car. I’ve put less than 5k miles on it, its mostly a garage queen and weekend show car. it just turned 58K. $26.500 OBO
I’m going to try to cover everything I know, but am happy to answer any questions or provide additional pics. I am selling the car because we have to have something with rear seats and between this one and my vette…I flipped a coin. This car NEEDS NOTHING and is in 9.5/10 condition for a car this old, with only 58K miles (going up a bit as I drive it). I show the car and have even taken home a trophy.
When I bought the car, there was discussion then as there is now. Is this original MC paint? I don’t think so, although the seller thought it was. After speaking with others, I know it was repainted after a parking lot incident. Not reportable accident, just a door scrape. Reminds me of mystic paint, with more metalflake, as it’s got more colors than seen on a typical MC car. I’ve had it parked next to a MC car at a car show. Clearly mine has more colors and metal flake and transitions quicker in the sun. That said, I was told last month by a body shop paint guy that it could be MC paint, but the amount of clear sprayed on it would affect the color changing properties. So I’ll leave it to others that know more than I, but regardless…its beautiful.
The car made 498 RWHP (dyno sheet included) when it was tuned back in 2011. The shop told me it makes more power than any other cobra they have done with the same bolt on mods. I don’t race it, but if I did, I think the 410 gears would be too much. For driving around town it is a blast to drive, but traction might be a problem if the car is going to be used for anything serious.
All of the convertible top components are brand new. One of the rams was leaking a bit so I had everything replaced since they were already in there. New RAMs, new motor and lines. He also went over all the straps and framing. Looks and works great. Receipts included.
I had the stereo custom done last year and it sounds GREAT. All alpine component speakers, a 5 channel amp and ported, low-profile JL Audio sub (with sub volume knob in console) = huge improvement over mach system.
I have Mickey Thompson street II drag radials on it. The biggest tire that will fit, 305/35/18. These grip like crazy and are the best street tires I’ve ever tried…but they will rub a bit if you hit a big bump just right and/or have a car full of folks. There has been no damage to anything and it doesn’t bother me, as it rarely happens, but it might bother you or it might be worse, depending on your situation. The tires themselves have about 1000 miles on them. Fronts are new Nitto NT555, 275/35/18.

The BAD.
1. There are a couple rock chips in the paint. I used mystichrome touch up paint on them and will send what I have left with it. But if you look, you can find them. There is not 1 door ding or dent anywhere and no marks of any kind on the wheels.
2. I believe there is a very slow drain on the battery. I leave it on a battery tender but if I don’t, after about 10 days it turns over really slow and I’ve had to jump it. If it’s driven regularly that won’t matter. I had the local ford dealer check it and they said there was no drain, but I disagree. It could be the battery I suppose but I replaced it last year. Again, only an issue if it sets for several days. Battery tender will be included.
3. There’s a mark in the paint, behind the trunk lid that you can only see when you open the trunk. It’s about 2 inches long (see pic) and was there when I bought the car.
This is not a new car. There are some minor signs of minimal wear, but you won’t find many, if any, terminators in this condition. It runs perfectly, and again, needs absolutely nothing. Everything works and I have both keys, manuals, etc. I’m happy to take more pics or even shoot a video if desired.
I know buying a car like this sight unseen is risky. I am an old retired Air Force Chief and my word means something to me. This car is as described. If you are going to have the car shipped (once funds have cleared), I will oversee the process and take lots of pics of the loading. Depending on the purchase price, I will even help with shipping. I will also ensure the shipping documents reflect the condition of the car, as shippers like to fudge the documents a bit to allow for any light scrapes or marks they might have missed (or caused themselves). You can fly into Vegas and drive it home; happy to come pick you up.
If you'd like to discuss the car shoot me a note with a number and I'll call you. Clear title in hand.
Thanks for looking and God Bless.
