MCM(Motor City Mashers) members! If you've ever wanted to be a beer competition judge, it looks
like you've got your chance! Below is an email that was sent to Jason at
Adventures in Homebrew and he would like you all to know about this
opportunity. Read on!
Event: Michigan State Fair Homebrew Competition
Judging dates: Saturday August 16th 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday August 17,
Noon to 5 p.m. NOTE; two days, so two judge points for this competition.
Judge location: Dragonmead Microbrewery in Warren.
I need 54 judges each day
I need up to 17 stewards each day
You do not have to be BJCP to participate especially as a steward, but
experience really helps for judging.
If you can help, please notify me ASAP at [email protected] [1]
I need to know if you can one or the other or both days.
I will also need to know your experience level
If you are entering the competition I need to know what cats you are
entering.
If you have a judging preference, let me know and I do what I can.
Please show up early to complete paperwork and get your assignments.

The Michigan State Fair Home Brewing Competition is rapidly approaching. As a
reminder, entries are going to be accepted from July 21 to August 2. Once
again, we have several drop off locations, which are listed below. We ere
trying to have envelopes available at all sites for your entry information
but in any case, here are some reminders:
- Entries are (2) 10 to 22 oz bottles of a single batch of Michigan made
beer. You may enter any category you like, but only one entry per sub
category.
- For categories 20 thru 23, PLEASE specify the special ingredients AND the
underlying style. Every year, we have entries that do not perform as well as
they could because the underlying BJCP style is not listed
- With your entries, PLEASE place your check or cash in an envelope and list
the following on the outside: Entrant Name, Number of Entries, and Amount
Paid.
