i just got my QA1s in yesterday (TC1504P) and as i was looking at SWThomas' install how-to i noticed something... The bar that goes thru the eye on the bottom of the shock. Mine has a slit on each side and his has an oval hole on each side. Will that make a difference?

My QA1's are just like yours, open ended. When installing you'll have to lower the lower control arm as low as it can go so the slots line up with the bolt holes.
Since your probably doing this when you install the new springs. It will be easier to install the shock with the upper ball joint disconnected. That will allow you the most travel on the lower control arm. If you run into a jam PM me.
