just did a trip to oregon with the 373s.. not the most scientific test but i got 23-24 mpg before with the 430s i would get 21-22.. so not as much as i expected :dw:... so the argument that gears kill mpg is out the window..
was your driving style similar? Weather similar? Tunes both the same? Tires all the same? Weight in the car the same? Were both sets of tires aired up before the trip?
The 4v motor doesnt mind being revved' so i didnt think gears would hurt it that bad.
Well the fact that it doesnt mind being reved is not the issue. Just because a performance engine can rev to 9k rpm doesnt mean its good on gas.
As long as you drove the same style and amount of highway/city then doing a simple miles driven divided by gallons used would be good enough. Assuming you filled up both times at the pump.
It's all in how you drive, around town you'll possibly getting better MPG.
I got mid 20's with my 4.10's all day on the highway. - high 20's with the 3.55's.
I've had a best of 29 mpg with the 3.55's (Virginia to Indiana)
With 4.30's it was 24.6 (Virginia to California).
