I purchased a set of 9 thread heads and before they go on my car I want to get them freshened up. I was wondering who would be good to send them for the work?

I have been doing some reading and have seen not-so-good things about Modular Head Shop but those were a long time ago. Can't find too recent to see if they got better.

Find yourself a reputable player in the game. Having to redo a set of poorly done heads on a fresh build is the absolute pits.

I think Livernois is still in the 4v game. They're just $$$ from what I remember. I haven't heard anything about MHS in a while. But it seems not a lot of people are getting head work done right now.

The bad stuff about MHS was back when Nick (RIP) owned it. He jacked up a set of heads pretty bad and it spread.

I have nothing but good things to say about the current owner Jordan. He's taken care of me better than expected and stands by his work.

I have an old set of his 2v stage 1 heads. For his 2v heads he uses new 9 thread castings.

6-8 months after (maybe longer) getting the heads I found a minor casting flaw on head gasket surface right near a coolant passage.

I contacted him, sent in pictures and even though he thought I'd be fine he still sent me a tag to ship the head back on his dime. Tig welded it, kissed the surface flat and shipped it back to me. Cost me nothing but a little time.

There was no back and forth BS. He didn't put his hands up and say it's not my fault because he didn't cast the head he just handled it.

That's the type of service I look for and I'll continue to buy parts from him.

I’ve heard good things about Jordan as well - they’re excessive motor sports as well (I think maybe before he acquired MHS)

Kris Starnes was always a big name in modular heads as well

Bad cobra on here and FB has a good head shop. Can’t recall the name.

Livernois and MHS always have good reviews from what I’ve seen.

MHS did mine. Jordan does fantastic work. Livernois is almost double the price in their quote to me. Janderson heads out of MN, TKM, wonder racing, L&M, kris starnes (if u can get ahold of him) all can do magic on these heads. Your location would help.

My buddy had MHS do his with custom cams last year. The cams took months to get but that’s not MHS fault. Great work and very good communication through the entire process.

That's good to hear that MHS is doing good. They were my second choice after Fox Lake. So once Fox Lake retired they moved to number 1.

I follow MHS on YouTube and Instagram. He has shown how to build an engine from bottom to top with his vids. I love seeing his updates on heads getting serviced too. I would trust that guy 100% with any heads whether 2v or 4v! Good luck! Oh, Andrew Lavender on YouTube has his 2v 4.6 heads worked on by MHS and he's run 7's in the 1/4 mile as a small backyard racer.

Jordan is awesome... He did my entire engine and heads with his stage 3 custom cams as well as degreeing them.

Janderson Heads is the shop Badcobra speaks highly of. That's where my head's will be going once I'm ready.

Soon, very soon!
