Guys
I know i am super anal about my car but i am hearing a gravelly sound from the engine bay (behind dash) after warmed up at about 3500 or 4000 rpms when i go WOT.
I just replaced the alternator and it def did not do this before replacement?
I have put about 150 miles on it since replacement and had the tune done a few months ago when my project was complete.

What has changed since tune is weather went from 100+ to 70s and 80s, new clutch and alternator. Thats it. Sound started after wearher change and after alt. This in on my 91 tune.
Please advise, i am driving it but staying out of WOT for the time being.

Just thinking.
Alt should have noise when sitting and revving up

trans has a load on it.

pilot bearing is a thought

there have been a few recent threads in trans noise after work.
Few were pilot bearing

Saw you had an RXT. They are a noisy clutch. But it’s normally if you lug it, not around 3500. Plus I can only hear the engine and exhaust when I got WOT.

That area is peak torque and I guess you could describe pinging as gravelly. Are you familiar with with detonation sounds like?
