I have a 40" Samsung lcd with the 120hz feature. I'm trying to get the optimal settings to where there's no xbox lag on the screen. I currently have it set on "game mode", any idea what settings that changes?

Your mother.

EDIT: J/K. It probably changes the refresh rate. Is the TV 1080i or 720P, what are you running the 360 at? Try running it at 720p and see if that clears it up.

I have been playing mine in 720p on my new 40 inch samesung and just changed it to 1080p in the dashboard setting and didnt like it! It made the screen appear a little thin for my liking....you have all this screen width and it makes the picture look smaller WTF. Im changing it back to 720.

Firstly.....all your tv is doing is upconverting the game to 1080p. There are a couple games in 1080p but not many. Then you have to take into account your seating distance. Since you already have your tv...its set in stone already. Secondly, whoever posted that they have your settings on Vivid....TAKE THEM OFF NOW!!! Its the most inaccurate and harmful settings you can possibly get for your any HDTV. I suggest most of you go over to www.avsforum.com and read up on your info. Its seems to be very common amongst most HDTV owners that think they settings out of the box or the "Vivid" picture is the best looking. I honestly dont even know how people watch anything on vivid. The blacks are crushed...colors are oversaturated.....whites are overly bright.....noise is increased alot.....IR (Image Retention) for Plasma's and some LCD's are much much worse....the list goes on and on. I could go all day. Anyways, the 120hz feature is nice for LCD's but i found it leaves everything looking like its recorded in Video format...not like a Movie. I can't stand it personally but its your set and your decision. What set do you guys have and I might be able to help you guys out!! Im pretty knowledgeable on this subject so if any of your have any questions i'll be glad to answer them or point you in the right direction. Good luck guys!

Just so you know, that "badass" Monster brand HDMI cable is going to get you the exact same picture quality as the cheapest HDMI cable you can find. Not trying to have a go at you or anything, but if you ever need to buy another HDMI cable for whatever reason check out http://www.monoprice.com. When it comes to a digital signal like HDMI, don't feel that you are sacraficing quality by buying cheap.

Game mode generally makes everything brighter. that's about it.

You're tv most likely sets itself to the incoming signal, so you don't have to mess with it.

To get 1080p, you have to go into the X-Box dashboard and change the settings. Standard means that your X-box is putting out a standard definition signal, you have to change it.

As far as the Monster HDMI, most cheaper cables don't have the bandwidth needed for 120hz tv's. Brand doesn't matter, but the bandwidth does in that situation.

+1 Billion!!! Soooo many people are uneducated thinking that everything Monster makes is superior! Its actually not even close. Monoprice is one of the biggest retailers to A/Vphiles. Cheap and reliable....with exactly the same result as that 15 times the price big and bad Monster Cable. I used to work at BB in car audio and everytime i went there for something they'll tell people to get Monster cables and blah blah blah.....wow! BB is bad about non-educated people in their fields!:mj:

Nofire- I go to OU too!!! Small World

Ok when i said a badass monster hdmi cable, i mean the only one that supports the 120hz. My xbox is set on 1080p, but also in the dashboard is a "reference level" setting. What should this be on? The choices are either standard, intermediate, or expanded. My main question is what should i adjust the settings to on the TV. I found a "game mode" in the tv menu which from what i can see puts the picture back to standard Display settings and cranks up the 120hz feature.

I could see people who idolize monster cables owning Denon AVRs and buying the $500 ethernet cable that is Denon Link. Gotta have the BEST, right?
