So I’ve posted this on two other forums and nobody could help me figure it out (no offense to anyone) but there seems to be a lot of tech on here so I’ll post it here. This is my 02 gt. I bought it back in September of 2015 and it has sat for at least half the time I’ve owned it because I got sick and have other cars. Last year I think it was it sat for a good month or so without being started so I threw in a new battery and started her up and took her for a spin. I know it sounds crazy (you’ll see what I mean) but it did not make this sound prior to sitting.
Anyway, it’s been making that sound ever since. I’ve only put maybe a mile or so on it trying to diagnose/pinpoint the noise but that’s it. I’ve narrowed it down to the driveshaft or rear end. Its not the transmission because it is speed dependent not rpm dependent. At low speeds is a whirring noise almost like its scraping at a certain point in its rotation (whether its the drive shaft or rear) but the wierdest thing is that it won’t do it in 4th unless I’m decelerating or going over a bump. So it seems that suspension compression has an effect so maybe pinion angle? It is lowered on Steeda Sports. Does anyone have a clue?
