to confirm.install both fuses f2-2 @8.

test from c1262 pin 24 to pin 35 of c133.
it should beep if this is your short.

than just unbolt ground..and retest..pin 35..

this is how we learn..

thinking of best way to open harness.if this was it.

1st idea..go to a junk yard and open that.

here we have a few yards OK many that you pull your own..I did this for heater core.

that shield is foil wrap and could be 2 inch or 2 foot.

assume splice pierced wire.
crazy it didn't blow those fuses with 30amp

don't sweat it..this happened to our truck.
squirrls ate it..I fixed it..2wks later they attacked again..this time into firewall..

Hello all. Somehow, I couldn't seem to find this thread again. That's why you haven't heard from me. It seems like you've got plenty of help, but if you need me, I'll be around. Too many cooks spoil the stew.

Some may not agree with me but that setting is for checking impedance on diodes, a beep does not always mean short for the purpose of checking continuity. One more click clockwise and you will be checking resistance which is what you should be using when looking for shorts to ground.

You are correct. That's a diode test function. You can't test a diode with a resistance mode, unless it's dead shorted.

im still convinced you have a short on the shield to red wire. based on test already done.

with c133 unplugged you ruled out any thing on engine. and short showed still.

to me. it looks like if ground was removed fuse shouldn’t blow when key gets turned. which would prove short on ground.
