Can anyone tell me if running a 2.93 pulley (and correct tune) will cause any issues with highway trips?

Issues, as in: overspinning the Eaton, gas mileage, drivability, etc?

I want a little more HP, but I'm not interested in jumping up and changing fuel pumps, adding a KB, etc.

If I could add the pulley, and still be able to take my car on trips (for example 2-3 hr road trips a couple times a month) without any issues, its something I want to do.

I have the supporting mods to go with the 2.93, so I think it would make decent power.

I drove my old 708 RWHP 2000 GT Mustang 12 hours home from the shop that built it. Minus shredding a belt it was fine.

Well I ran a 2.93" pulley for 2 years here in Germany. On the autobahn, backroads, and city driving and never had a problem. I know I cruise faster than most in the USA on long trips because of many stretches without speed limits. If I am not mistaking the SVT Lightning has a very similar supercharger as the cobra and came stock with a 2.93" or 3.1" pulley. Just get a tune or at least a handheld device (one size fits all) tune - Diablo Sport Predator or SCT XCal2. JUST DO IT!!

Ahhhh..excellent info.

If you ran it on the AutoBahn and never had any issues, I'm sure it will be fine then.

One other question for you guys- will I need aux idler pullies, or can I just bolt the pulley on?

Anyone have a guesstimate what kind of numbers the 2.93 will make with my mods and a tune?

So long as the boost bypass is still functional you should be fine. I run a 2.8 also and have no problems with mileage. I got 22 hwy before the custom tune. I have not tested it yet on the custom tune. Should be even better.

You'll be fine, nowhere near "overspinning" the blower. Hell with a real custom tune on the car you'll probably pick up some gas mileage.

I drive atleast an hour at a time on the highway and had no prblems with a 2.76 upper and a dyno tune. I would say if your looking to drop temps to look into a 160 tstat was the most improvement in temps on my car, with proper fan setting tuned in.

how does the boost bypass effect highway cruising ?

It should be closed when not at WOT allowing the air to bypass the rotors letting the car run cooler and more effecient.

The bypass valve is actually post rotors. It lets excess air being compressed by the blower to be bypassed before it gets to the intake. If the bypass valve is not functional (RPM outlet boost bypass mod) then it will be pushing more air then the engine can take at low rpms. This causes cavitation which is when air turbulence is created which causes excess friction, heat, and inefficiency.

It will cruise the exact same way a Eaton with a stock pulley will.
