After a couple of weeks working here and there on this. I am pretty much done with my letters.

I did the vent mod, then I decided to do the letters in silver with a red outline.

First, I spray painted the blanket with hi-temp flat black paint to cover the water stains. Then, I used a canvas acrylic paint (silver) and a Testors paint pen (Red) from Hobby Lobby for the letters. I used a silver Sharpie marker to make my border lines then painted them silver. Finally, I traced the edges about 10 times with the red paint pen. It took several coats with the red because it does not go on as thick and it looks light if you do not go over it many times.

It takes a steady hand. So, if your not patient I would not reccomend doing this:D

Hope you like. I do...:coolman:

SVTgriff, what was the "Vent Mod" you mentioned?

BTW, the lettering looks GREAT!

Thanks,

the vent mod is simply cutting holes in your hood blanket to allow the hot air to escape directly through the vents.

i didnt have a hood blanket so i just had the underside of my hood airbrushed. :coolman:

Yeah, what SVT4STV said. Just cutting larger vent holes in the blanket and dressing the holes edges so it does not look bad and removing the plastic vent flaps.

I think CobraBob has a site with the instructions. Let me see if I can find it....

do you have any left over flex trim? I can send you a couple of dollars.

I have someone already wanting my extra.....

I will let you know if he backs out.

You can get it at AutoZone for about $30 and sell the rest.

Its just weatherstripping for doors.
