What's wrong with him having a clearance?

We've always had militarized police forces--that is, since we've had police forces. They have a paramilitary structure, uniforms and ranks. If there is a problem in law enforcement (in some places there is, in some places there isn't) it's not that.

By most definitions, and certainly by traditional ones, a civilian is a person who is not in the armed forces nor a specialist in Roman law. Personally, I wouldn't say anyone is something other than a civilian unless they are bound by the UCMJ.

These are the only definitions I could find...

ci·vil·ian
səˈvilyən/Submit
noun
1.
a person not in the armed services or the police force.
synonyms: noncombatant, nonmilitary person, ordinary citizen, private citizen; informalcivvy
"family members and other civilians were quickly evacuated from the post"

and this one

ci·vil·ian [si-vil-yuhn] Show IPA
noun
1.
a person who is not on active duty with a military, naval, police, or fire fighting organization.
2.
Informal. anyone regarded by members of a profession, interest group, society, etc., as not belonging; nonprofessional; outsider: We need a producer to run the movie studio, not some civilian from the business world.
3.
a person versed in or studying Roman or civil law.

I may be wrong and ignorant in the topic but to my understanding is that almost all personnel that is sworn in by government is considered non civilian.

That is a relatively new definition and specific to the US. Would you consider police officers to be combatants in the context of a war?

An example of an LEO's indifference to the Constitution.

So LOE's are not civilians? Does that mean that we now have militarized police forces in out country now?

maybe you should actually READ and comprehend the thread before commenting

The most militant of cops are awesome. NNSA OST? Cool as hell. SWAT? Awesome. Ghetto cops? I love their stories.

Bored cop in a suburb full of million dollar homes? I don't want to meet that guy. He probably doesn't know what bad guys look like and he might get confused when he sees a guy carrying a gun (legally).
