I've got 67 miles on mine, have boosted maybe 4 or 5 times, damnit it's hard to take it easy on this car. I'm going to probably take it easy for another few hundred, then really see what she can do.

Just wondering what you guys' break in procedure was?

eh just beat on it anytime. Its just like the whole terminator thing. Youll own the car for a few years and then sell it. It wont be your problem if something goes wrong years down the road:beer:

F that, I'll own my Terminator till it falls apart. November will make 5 years. The GT500 will probably stick around for a long time as well :pepper:

well i can tell you my break-in procedure, i picked mine up with 7.3 miles on it and was in the gas before it would even allow boost, i had about a 150 mile drive home and i ran through the gears a few times(2-4) i went through a sequence of gears and mph the whole way back which is as follows, 4th gear 60-80-60, then 5th gear 60-80-60, and then 6th gear 60-80-60, and repeated. just to keep the rpms variable, i brought her to the track with 432 miles on her, i put her on the dyno at 1100~ and bone stock dynoed 481/472 SAE corrected. so i must have done something right, i ran across a website on break-in on modular motors and it stated that if you wait until 500 miles to get on it that you have already worn the rings and then you get on it and finally seat them you will get some bypass. just my .02 cents but my gt500 was recently totaled, but i should be getting another one soon and will try it again and see what numbers i get out of it too.

i have heard great results with gradual resistance. 3k rpms for the first 200 miles. 4k untill 500. 5k till 700. then redline it in first 3 gears at 800 or 900 or 1000 miles. or make up your own chart. such as 3 til 1, 4 til 250, 5k til 4, redline at 500 miles?

saw a post here about an 03 mustang svt who did this then he took the car to a dyno and posted 382 at the wheels. vary rpms, let the engine slow you down(i have heard this helps to seal), and have fun.:D

this is the biggest deal dont run it forever at one rpm suck as 200 miles at 3500 rpms straight.

what are the revs in 4th at 80mph?

I broke mine in just like it will be driven. Cruised around town, some hard pulls getting on the hwy. I put the tune in at 450 miles and then took a 400 mile road trip.

i waited for 50-60 miles. Car runs strong.

I like your plan best. I won't be driving it enough to see 500+ miles anytime soon.

Looks like Greg at RET has been seeing some with low miles come in for some dyno time as well

I've hears it two ways.

1)Drive it like you would normally. (if you drive it like you stole it then do that)
and
2)wait for 800-1,200 miles.(which is easy to get 1000 miles on cars.)

I bought my 03 with 2,800 pampered miles on it and left the dealer side ways. started modding the car at 3,000 miles( the next day as it was a 2 hour trip to get the car) pullied the car and headers at 4,000 miles(made 480 rwhp strong i know) and fried the clutch at 6,756. and 2-1/4 miles.(hurt it on the first pass, noticed it on the 2nd pass, weldded it together on the 3rd)

I would go normal drive my new car like I normally drive around town with some highway/interstate driving. and not do full on WOT for 800 to 1000 miles.

AS long has you arent afraid of getting your presious car dirty with bugs, rain, dirt, and other road hazards it wont take long to get 800 miles on a car.
