I think that wrx is gonna **** his car up launching off the rev limiter.. thats the only way he could win that race, but winning is wining! " even if it's by an inch or a mile"( Vin Gaylord) the Z06 shoulda payed up.. I don't care if the dude is a 6'8" prowrestler, if i beet you and you have the balls to punch me, it's on... PPL like that deserve to get stabbed in the face with a salad fork!
The Wrx won.. thats the bottom line.. the Z06 owner is a punk who can't drive for shit.. nothing worse than a rich boy that can't even drive the car daddy bought for him so in return he throws a temper tantrum.. I'd eat that kids children i hate punks like that..
I'm not sure if he was actually bouncing his car off the factory rev limiter. He could have been using a launch control set up.
I'm a little fuzzy on these things (I’m still learning a lot about awd turbo cars) but I think what it does, is set a rev limit at a desired rpm. You can floor the gas and it just bounces off the rev limiter set by the launch control unit. This enables you to build some boost before you launch the car.
Example: You set the Rev limit to 5K rpm. You go 100% throttle with the clutch in, and it bounces off that rev limit. When you let go of the clutch, it disables the launch control feature (so you can shift past 6K rpm)
I'm not sure if that's actually what he's using or not.

what is all the fuss about? The WRX won. who cares if the ZO6 was pulling or not. and who cares about how much money is in one car or the other.
They both agreed to race and they raced.

I'm not wanting to compare prices, I just like knowing what it takes to get a WRX to respond like the one in the video. I still see the Z06 winning in the first race. If the WRX driver missed a shift as someone said, then he missed a shift, and he lost. I don't see guys in Nasar saying, "I really won, because I missed a shift!, see you can see it in the video, I missed a shift, I missed a shift!" WTF? I really don't care who won, I just see a further away Z06 in the race that according to the video would have counted, the first race. In a short rematch the WRX would win, if the transmission didn't hit the street. Start doing the 6K dumps in your car and we will see who the cry baby is.

You don't need to drop the clutch to launch an awd car fast.
I Rev to 5.5K get a little bit off the clutch. when the light drops and I go full throttle and quickly release the clutch (but I don't drop it)
I ran low 1.8 60ft times consistently in my bone stock evo. 17K miles on the stock drive train and not a problem *knock on wood* with MANY launches.
There are other methods... and yes some people just drop the clutch. I guess they don’t wanna have their clutch start slipping. doesn't make sense to me, I’d rather replace the clutch, than a differential, or tranny. :shrug:
I agree if you sit there and do clutch drops from 6K every time you race, eventually something is going to give on an awd car. Not like it's any different for you Cobra owners, don't you guys swap out your IRS for an older 8.8 rear end?
Before this turns into an awd vs rwd debate (caused by me) I will say if you just wanna drag race, the rwd platform is MUCH better than awd... awd has too many expensive parts to replace, especially when you can just strap on a set of slicks and run just as quick 60ft times in a rwd car...
I think it just boils down to the AWD and Engine Size that lets this battle rage. Thank god the WRX doesn't have a V8. It would be all over. Can you imagine the WRX with a built Supra Engine!

So, if you look, at most times after sunday afternoon, the download of the video reached 6-8 times the usage of the 600 people that live in the dorms and use the network.
But it's pretty amazing that it could handle it!!!

I hate to point this out but I've heard from several of the guys who were THERE. Everyone is in agreement that the WRX whooped the Z06. It doesn't matter if the Z06 didn't stack up or if it was the driver - he still lost. Watching the video, I see what looks like a race to a specific point, and it's run twice. Nowhere do I see the Z06 ahead, nor did the people actually there.
I know you may think anything less than 8 cylinders is inferior but more cylinders doesn't add to a racing bonus of a car length or five.
As has been said, the WRX won, plain and simple. No excuses for the Z06 driver, whether it's his car or his dad's or whatever else it may be.
