IAC Sucks

I cleaned it a few times and eventually ended up replacing it. It did cause much headache before I figured out what the specific problem was.

Now for the question. Do I need to disconnect and reconnect the battery so the PCM can relearn driving conditions again? It still smells pretty rich at idle and this only started after the IAC took a squat.

you should disconnect the battery anytime you work on your truck period

Yes. Reset the PCM so it can re-learn the trims for idle.
