almost 5 days, and I was able to eat one Mcd's cheeseburger. Thanks to Pike Hell Week. Its funny, to be that tired, and lil food, you laugh at anything and everything.

My cousin and I tried to see how long wecould stayup one time. 3 and a half days. We were hysterical laughing at animal planet. Most fun I've ever had watching tv.

I work nights and have a hard time sleeping. The longest I can remember is ~60hr stint where I didn't sleep. Funny thing is, after about 24hrs I went to bed and stayed there for an hour without even a hint of sleepiness. Finally stayed up another day and a half and was able to go to sleep after I stuffed my self at dinner.

20 years without sleep
18/01/2005 14:03 - (SA)

Ukraine - A 63-year-old man who hasn't slept for more than two decades has been told there is nothing wrong with him.

Ukrainian Fyodor Nesterchuk from the town of Kamen-Kashirsky said the last time he managed to doze off was more than 20 years ago.

"I can't remember the exact date and I don't know why it started, but all of a sudden I found it more and more difficult to nod off until eventually I was awake the entire night.

"I used to read boring scientific periodicals in the hope they would send me to sleep. But as soon as I felt my eyes getting droopy and put the magazine down, I would find myself wide awake again. I thought it would just be a phase but its gone on for over 20 years now and I've simply had to get used to it.

"Now when everyone else sleeps I get stuck into a good book," said Nesterchuk.

All attempts by doctors to put him to sleep have failed and they now say there's nothing wrong with the insurance broker.

Local doctor Fyodor Koshel who has examined Nesterchuk extensively and has been unable to make him fall asleep, said he has no idea of the cause of the insomnia and added medically there is nothing wrong with him. - Ananova.com

I never have slept, for some reason I just don't require it. They actually did a study on me at several hospitals and sleep clinics. I'm 40 years old and I think there are only about 1 in 500,000 individuals who fall into this category, although it is not recognized at all by the medical community.[/Q GUESS WHAT i am also one of the those 500,00 i sleep sometimes maybe 3 to 4 hours a night if lucky but i also dont feel tired during the day its a weird thing.

Longest was about 3 or 4 days when I was working night shifts. By the end of it I would be dying trying to stay awake then go home and stare at the ceiling. I finially had a day off and slept.I had halucinations, almost hit the ditch driving home, it was scary.

I have a friend that can sleep continously. He is under research at UBC. Takes caffeine pills and pots of coffee to stay awake. Technically he can sleep 22 hours a day if he wants!! One day he got home from work walked up to his bed kneeled over to untie his shoe and fell a sleep for 13 hours till his alarm went off again. Woke up in the same position.

The longest I have ever gone is a non stop road trip from Phoenix to Minneapolis driving and then out to dinner (Red Lobster with family)and home to bed. That was about 39 hours. I was so wiped out I slept for at least 12 hours.

Could barely keep my eyes open the whole ride home, I get home ,and want to play ****ing Monopoly. Ended up staying up until liek 7 that morning..Man I was tired.. I finally fell asleep and woke up 3 hours later. I was ready for the day!! lol

ANother time was campign with friends, just stayed up and watched the sunrise getting Hammered  I the ndecided to break bottles in the Beautiful dawn Light, as well as nail peoples tents with beer bottles who were actually sleeping...

Try flying from Sydney to Minneapolis via LA. You land in LA after 17hours in the air and it's 4 hours earlier on the same day than when you took off! Then you try to adjust to it being the start of the day again - really confusing. All up I wnt about 42 hours before I finally got 2 hours sleep.

The worst one though was when we had bushfires 2 years ago. All up 5 fires over 5 days came at our property and if I wasn't fighting it on our property I was on one of my neighbours places. All up I went from Wednesday morning to Sunday night so 5 days give or take. That was the most adrenaline I've ever experienced and it didn't matter how much energy I put into it, I kept finding more. 12,000 acres went up and 15 families lost their homes but not one of my neighbours lost so much as a fence!

I cooked for about six days. Full blown manic episode. I never thought I would be so glad to see a needle filled with sedatives. I get about 4-5 hours sleep on average, but for the past 2 months it's been completely random.

For about a week i only needed 1-2 hours of sleep a night to be fully functional. I was taking some new medication for my stomach and it just made me stupid hyper...

It's kind of ironic that I see a thread with this title. For the past week or so, I've had tons of trouble getting to sleep. I'll lay in bed for hours trying to sleep, but I have so many different thoughts running through my head that I can't. It's currently 8:48 am and I haven't gone to sleep yet. When I finally do sleep I sleep forever though. Even when I'm beyond tired both physically and mentally, I can't sleep. I don't know what my problem is. I got pretty sick about a month ago and slept about 36 hours straight and ever since then I've been totally messed up with my sleeping schedule. If this doesn't stop soon I'm going to go see the doctor.
