He can drive it ok does good on shifts it's just the turns his hands get wet and stick. I let him floor it and there's no problem there it's just getting him to let off.

bottom line her... who are we to say sorry son no way can we blame them we got the darn machine
as long as he is responsible driver
insurance $2,000
aditional moods 3,000
The grin on the kids face $1,000,000
and the feeling we get when they say youre the best dad anybody can have PRICELESSS
But is up to you I am face with the same dilema next year most insurance will still include them for the simple fact is that they have access to the car
my best opinion start getting quotes !!! :read:

My son just got his license less than a year ago. I've watched the way my son drives his Mom's 4 cyl. Subaru which is the car he learned to drive in. I don't think i'll let him drive my Cobra until he is 25 or maybe 30. I'm sure I'll still have it. I love my car and I love my kid; that's why he's not driving it until I know he's mature enough to handle all that power. I am not so worried about the car. I'm worried he will get hurt if/when he can't handle it.

Some people are just stupid. No way. My kids aren't drive the cobra at 16, but fortunately I have 8 and 14 years till I have to worry about it. Good luck. Can't imagine what insurance will be like.

I called State Farm and posed the question as my daughter is almost 15. My insurance for the Cobra would go from about 80 bucks a month to over 300 a month. :nono:

She is gonna get stuck with my beater...88 Ford Escort

I was hoping you'd co-pilot cause otherwise who knows what they would do with it! Not that they mean to do bad, but come on even the adults are doing bad in these things. If I were 16 and driving one of these cars, I would probably be in jail or the hospital or worse!

Not to be a bummer, but....

My father taught me an important lesson when I was 16 that I hated him for at the time and now understand why it was the right one. He passed away with cancer when I was 18, so unfortunately, I wasn't given a chance to thank him for his wisdom as well as I should have. I grew up in a muscle car family, we had a 66 Blue GTO with a hurst shifter, what a "P" wagon, it was getting a few years old and wasn't the primary car anymore, so I just assumed I was going to get it when I got my license at 16, but the old man was way ahead of me. One week from my birthday, he sat me down and told me #1) I wasn't getting a license until I was 17 (period) and he had sold the GTO and he said he was doing it because he was worried if I got my permit and pressured the Ma, I would get the keys and he was not going to my funeral or explaining to the neighbors why their son got killed with me driving. He didn't even have a clue I had taken the car out a dozen times at 15 years old, without a license and actually had street raced it twice. I grew up racing motocross from age 10 and he was my biggest fan, so I lived to go fast at that age and he knew it.
On my next birthday (17) I got the hand me down VW beetle and I had to pay the insurance premium difference with my own money which meant working all summer and part time during school. How the heck do parents get smarter, as you get older, sometimes when they are already in the grave?
