Is it more logical to just have a shop fab up the piping or try to buy a "Kit" and hope for the best?
I was looking at CXRacings kit but I don't think I like where they have the flange for the BOV.
What's every's experiences?

Years ago the CX racing stuff wasn't bad for the money but the couplers weren't very good as they lacked any reinforcement. Having a shop fab up your piping is going to cost you but if you don't have the time or the skills that may be the way to go. Me personally I like taking on new projects and gaining new skills.

If you do it yourself I would go with some piping from Treadstone and couplers from siliconeintakes.com at a minimum, preferably HPS as their pieces are better quality. I would figure out where you want to put the BOV and have a shop weld the flange on.

Welding can be found reasonably affordable. Start calling machine shops. Buy a builder kit and a cheap bandsaw or grinder with a cutoff wheel. Fit your kit together yourself, mark the pipes for orientation and have the welding done locally. This way you get everything where/how you want it, and you can limit the number of couplers used.

If you happen to already have a miter saw you can get a carbide tipped blade for it, more teeth the better, to cut the piping also. That is how I cut all of mine when building my kit.

Thanks all. I'm switching from the Vortech air-to-water aftercooler to air to air and space seems to be at a premium under there.

I bought all my piping from treadstone as well as a TR1245. Very high quality piping. If you look up my build thread, you can find exactly what you need to buy. I'm a welder but don't own a hifreq AC/DC machine so I had to have a buddy weld it for me.

I'm going through it now actually! Haha Great build man. I may have some more questions for you in the future. I just started digging into removing the upper for powder and to start building up the fuel system. Picked up a 255 walboro ,39lb cobra injectors and 90mm BA2600 maf.

I'm actually in the process of doing an intercooler on my car and was wondering what you guys did for the coolant tank support rod? It's kinda in the way and was just curious if you modified it or deleted it?

My routing actually clears the rod on my 98. I had to put a slight bend in it and my piping goes between the rod and the fan. The slight bend shortened the rod a tad and caused my overflow tank to lean towards the motor. But I put a few stainless washers under the tank and was able to level it up.

Ive been running the cxracing kit on mine for over 10 years. I can't speak for the quality now but I've never had a issue with mine. I did buy a prefabbed pipe with a flange mount on it for a Vortech Mondo BOV. I believe I got it from Siliconeintakes.com
