The new 2.7-liter "TurboMax" inline-4 gasoline engine for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado has been given a six-year and 100,000-mile warranty coverage. According to GM Trucks, the warranty is noted to have the same coverage span as the Silverado's inline-6 Duramax diesel. The warranty package applies to all Silverado trims (WT to LT Trail Boss) equipped with the gasoline four-banger.

GM Adds Vehicle-to-Home Generator Power to Entire Portfolio of Next-Gen EVs

Story by Brian Silvestro •19m

General Motors announced plans on Tuesday to add bi-directional vehicle-to-home (V2H) charging capabilities to its next-generation fleet of Ultium battery-powered electric vehicles.
Like similar tech found in the Ford F-150 Lightning, the new feature means you'll soon be able to power your home with your electrically powered GM vehicle, provided you have the right equipment installed in your home. According to GM, that means having an "Ultium Home"inverter, home hub, and dark start battery installed in your home.
GM says the technology will be available across its portfolio of EVs by 2026, starting with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado RST. That will be followed by the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, and the yet-to-be-released Cadillac Escalade IQ, which is set to make its debut on August 9.

“GM Energy's growing ecosystem of energy management solutions will help accelerate GM’s vision of an all-electric future by further expanding access to even more benefits that EVs can offer," GM Energy vice president Wade Sheffer said in a statement. “By integrating V2H across our entire Ultium-based portfolio, we are making this groundbreaking technology available to more consumers, with benefits that extend well beyond the vehicle itself, and at broader scale than ever before."

No One Can Buy a Lamborghini Anymore

Story by Thom Taylor •17h

Even with Lamborghini promising to hit 10,000 builds for 2023, you can’t buy one. Nor can you for 2024, as Lambo CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Bloomberg it is sold out. And even then, Lambo buyers may have to wait even longer. So, what’s going on with your favorite, or second-favorite, Italian supercar maker?

Lamborghini had a record number of sales last year, and for the first six months of 2023, it has already sold 5,341 vehicles. If it can keep up with its orders, 2023 will be its best year ever. And this is with only two models, the Urus SUV and Huracan. It no longer sells the Aventador, ending production around this time last year. But revenue is over $1.5 billion.

Tesla trims prices of some Model Y versions in China

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has dropped the prices for Model Y Long Range and Performance versions in China amid the ongoing electric vehicle price war, according to the company's official Weibo account.
The starting prices for both models were cut by CNY 14K (~$1,932) each, with the Model Y long-range's price down 4.5% to CNY 299.9K (~$41,486) and the Model Y Performance's price down 3.8% to CNY 349.9K (~$48,295).
The EV giant will also offer insurance subsidies of CNY 8K (~$1,104) in China for buyers of Model 3 entry-level and rear-wheel-drive versions in inventory between August 14 and September 30.
Tesla (TSLA) has cut prices several times since last year amid raging competition and economic uncertainty that has hit sales. The automaker's China-made EV sales fell 31% M/M in July, marking the lowest level for 2023.
Last month, CEO Elon Musk had warned that further cuts could be expected if market conditions become unstable. Bank of America's John Murphy pointed out that Tesla's (TSLA) price cuts have created a "negative price spiral" that has already adversely impacted margins.

The United Auto Workers (UAW), which represents most Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) assembly line workers in the United States, could call a strike as soon as next month. It could shutter plants and put Ford in a position where it lacks inventory to send to dealers. (These companies have the worst reputations.)
The union’s requests are also crippling financially. The union, which represents 146,000 workers at Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, wants a 40% wage and benefits hike spread over four years. Reuters has reported that this would drive labor costs per hour from $60 to $150 an hour.

Some Ford F-150 trucks are making 'loud, crashing noises,' but there's no crash

Some Ford F-150 trucks are making 'loud, crashing noises,' but there's no crash
Instead of enjoying the mellifluous tones of Lady Gaga or the bounce music of the Arctic Monkeys, some drivers of newer Ford F-150 pickups are hearing unexplained loud crashing sounds, the noise of shattering glass, or high-pitched static through the cockpit's speakers.
This phenomenon has prompted more than a hundred complaints to Ford, some by customers who say the noise was so distracting that they either had to pull over and stop driving, or if parked, didn’t feel it was safe to get on the road.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the automaker issued a technical service bulletin recently addressing the noise issue in Expedition SUVs and the F-150 pickups from the 2021-23 model years, and the 2022 F-150 Lightning electric trucks.
Ford says its related to the amplifier in the vehicles’ sound systems, which seems obvious.
Without detailing the actual cause, the company says that it has developed a software fix that customers can get at dealerships or through a downloadable update. The fix supposedly adjusts the amplifier to filter out the speaker noise.

“We are working swiftly to make sure this is resolved for our customers,” a spokesperson said.

Ford is expected to unveil a facelifted F-150 pickup truck at the Detroit Motor Show this September, and aside from styling updates, a new report from Ford Authority claims the Blue Oval is preparing to introduce a road-biased model called the Lobo.

According to sources familiar with the matter, this trim level will boast a lowered ride height and a "sinister and aggressive" exterior. Until Ford confirms the existence of this rumored trim level, we have to treat this as speculation. However, it wouldn't be the first time the Dearborn-based automaker has gone this route.

In the early '90s, Ford introduced the F-150 SVT Lightning with improved handling and a hearty V8. The second-generation SVT Lightning (produced between 1999-2004) is fondly remembered. Powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8, the sports truck could accelerate to 60 mph in a blistering 5.2 seconds.

Ford Motor Company, an automotive industry giant with a rich history of producing iconic pickup trucks, may be gearing up for an exciting addition to its lineup.

Recent trademark filings have sparked speculation that Ford is planning to reintroduce the F-200 name, potentially signaling the arrival of a new pickup truck model. Unearthed by an astute forum user on 7thGenMustang.com, the trademark application, filed on August 28th, 2023, includes a description of goods and services that explicitly mentions "Motor vehicles, namely gasoline and electric automobiles, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles, and their structural parts." This development has piqued the interest of automotive enthusiasts and industry experts alike, as Ford has a history of using the F-200 name but has never deployed it for a vehicle sold in North America.
