is ''fading'' normal with chrome replicas?

i ordered a 03-04 cobra chrome rim replica a while back and i'd say like over a year later the chrome is like.. starting to show small silver spots? not sure how to explain it.. is this becuase it's not really a ''chrome'' rim? is this normal after a while? thanks.

I take them off every few months and hit them really good with some chrome polish.(infact I did it today)

They start to get stained from crap on the road and brake dusk, and they will start to get Corrosion on them, and it will start to pit if you don't keep up with them. It takes some elbow grease, but its not too bad a job. You just need to buff the hell out of them with some chrome polish. I use Turtle Wax chrome polish and rust remover.

My AFS 17x10.5 chromies were cheap shiat Chinese chrome.

I'll be sending them somewhere to get redone; they lasted maybe 2-years before the chrome came off the inner barrels and then the faces.

Like Jroc said, TW chrome or Mother's chrome polish both work well.

thats the word i was looking for, pit. yeah looks like i have to buy some REAL chromes, its a pita to keep taking the wheels off to clean them.
