Do you have a link to the ad? Also you can copy and paste the vin into carfax.com and it will give the year, make, and model before you have to pay for a report

The lighter and darker interior accent colors were available in '04. I have an '04 with the light gray inserts.

easiest way to tell is by the key hole on the driver door. black = 03 an chrome = 04. you could get graphite, charcoal, or parchment seats in 04 also

Copied from CobraBob`s site.
What are the differences between the 2003-2004 Cobra?
Changes were mainly limited to color and trim. New exterior paint offerings for 2004 were Torch Red (re-introduced after being discontinued mid-year on the 2003), Screaming Yellow and Competition Orange. An optional Mystichrome package with an exterior paint treatment that changes color when viewed from different angles was offered for 2004. Inside the Mystichrome Cobra, the leather seat inserts and the steering wheel cover also shift colors. Interior wise, the 2004 Charcoal Gray seating added dark gray inserts. 2003's were lighter gray. Other differences:
* The 2003 radio decks came with an AUX 20 pin port in the back and the '04 had the SAT button.
* The door lock on the drivers side on '03 Cobras were black, 04 Cobras were chrome
* The 2004 the cats were bigger
* The 2003 had a small interior headliner cargo net. It was deleted for 2004.
* The computer codes were different between the model years

in the vin number the 4 before the f stands for 04'

if it was a 3 before the f it would be an 03'

Didn't the '04's have the "head tick" problem eliminated?

no they didnt. they had the same heads as the 03. head revisions did not come out until 2005. Besides, there were not too many that actually had the "tick" issue. This website created all kinds of paranoia

Isn't this issue induced, not produced? In other words, I was under the impression that AFTER a high heat/high load application a valve seat or another component in the valve train became warped, creating the tick. This happens in the two cylinders closest to the firewall on the driver's side head because of the inefficient coolant passage design.

There was more than 1 revision on the heads. I think 4 in total with the 05 heads being the final ones. Not sure at what points each was done. Some 03-04 heads have 4 threads some have 9 from the factory. Also oil passages and water passages where changed through the revisions. You are correct that some 04s did have the head tick but it was less common but that could be for the soul reason that less 04s where made.

Also I am not sure if they ever 100% proved what cause the tick. I lost tract. Some swore it was from high speed runs, some said it was from coolant pooling in the back of the head, and then there where other ones.

Thus the idea of the head cooling mod, which hasn`t been proven to help.I have it though, figured it couldn`t hurt.
