Is what you see here a problem?

I just ordered this complete rear end, and after getting it unwrapped I noticed a dent in the differential cover. It looks like something might have fallen on it during shipping. Could this affect the performance or longevity of this part?

The dent doesnt look too severe but it's location could cause the ring gear to rub the cover if it's bad enough.

I would at least request a new cover even if it's just cosmetic..

This, if it bothers you, as long as it doesn't hit the ring gear it should not be a problem, shame the clowns shipping it couldn't pay more attention.

If you are worried about it just pop the cover off and tap the small dent back out. Still will look pretty compared to an old one.

This is exactly what I was gonna say. It'll be a lot cheaper to take it off and tap on it a few times then to buy a new one. And a lot less hassle than trying to get them to buy you one.
