I went to the track last night. Here are the numbers on the time sip.
Launched many different ways but what seemed to work best was rev to 2 grand and let up on the clutch quickly but not dump. I shifted at about 6000-6200 and in this instance did not hit the rev limiter or miss a gear. It now has 2500 miles on it, and is bone stock. The temp was about 78 degrees. It chirped the tires going into 2nd and 3rd. Tire pressure was 27 pounds and had only a slight amount of wheel hop.

RT 544 (500 tree)
60' 2.169
330' 6.012
1/8 9.102
mph 78.78
1000' 11.749
1/4 13.944
mph 100.55

Can anyone tell me anything.

that's not...

kinda slow.. that's HELLA slow. My '02 GT trapped around that ET and around that mph... something is seriously wrong. If you're a decent driver, I would check compression on your cylinders... maybe only 6 are firing? =)

Maybe he was running his L. numbao....is right, that's hella slow. Your 60' isn't bad for the first time at the track but your times from there out aren't so good. Are you power shifting?

I can tell you that you're problem is mid track and higher.

You need to wind it up more, 6000 ain't enough.

The L with it's 20 pounds of boost and 150 shot did very well at the track.
I didn't power shift but didn't granny shift either. Chirped going into 2nd and 3rd.

Something is amiss. I went quicker in my relatively stock 97 Cobra. Maybe you let off at the first mph trap instead of the finish line?

I can chirp 2 to 3 and still take 2 seconds to shift. That doesn't mean you are shifting good.

I think your problem is

1) Not revving high enough
2) Not shifting fast enough

That's what your slip says anyway.

I say this because you are at least half a second and 5 - 7 mph off at the 1/8 .

Your 60' is pretty good, and is better than many that trap 110 and 13.0 flat or high 12. That means your problem is likely in the shifting because you are giving it away as you go down the track.

Jagged Edge - You must not be shifting high/hard enough. Your 1/4 trap is 8-10mph slow and your 1/8 trap is 5-6mph slow.

On a stock Cobra its a little better to shift at 6250-6500. Pullied cas typically shift down around 6000-6250.

yeah what HJ said, you have to bang those gears, hard. Slam em' like you want it. If you take your petty time, tenths will just slip through your fingers. I ran 13.01 bone stock, with a 2.2 60ft, so its not the wholeshot thats killin you, most suggest 1st and 2nd gear take up to 6800 and 6500, and in 3rd shift around 6250......i suggest next time you go redline all 3 gears.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. Your not at sea level and/or something is wrong with your car. Only other problem could be you are getting out of it before the end of the quarter.

The 1/8 MPH is too low too.

He's in FL so the track elevation can't be that bad.

I looked back at first 3 trips to the track last summer, bad air, inexperienced driver (me) and stock car except that I had an aftermarket filter or cold air kit. His run looks like one of my bad runs, keep in mind that I tossed the timeslips for the really bad runs.

Get a K&N or a cold air kit, shift higher and harder and see if you get your MPH up to 108 - 110. That would be about normal for a stock car with a cold air kit.

I'll try anything

I'll try it. I hit the rev limiter some times and I thought it was at about 67-6800 rpms??? When does the rev limiter kick in?
Thanks
JE:

PS: In Florida the most I could be, where I am is 30' above sea level.

How can I shift at 6800 rpms if I hit the rev limiter at 6500?

Are you gassing it up enough? I'm in the habit of easing into rev's while on the street, especially when shifting (because of the driveline thump).

I thought I was banging those gears, foot to floor, dumping the clutch and shifting at the last rpm, but with a 13.9 I guess not. I am sure there is plenty room for improvement on my part, but do you all think I'll find 8 to 9 tenths of improvement?
I am going to have it dynoed early next week to see where the car is at.
Thanks
JE
