You guys act like no one out here has modified cars. As I've mentioned in other threads, those that live here know how to work the system.

The out of state plate isn't as big of a deal as it used to be.

You're right Bob. I don't live there anymore and haven't since I was a little kid. However, my uncle owns a repair shop in northern CA and has hot rods all the time. Old school stuff like 57 Chevies. So, not sure how the rules pertain to the classic stuff.

I know your Cobra is pretty modified and you know the system. Not sure how you do it or your tricks of the trade LOL...

Via CA DMV:

Your vehicle does not need a smog inspection if your: Gasoline-powered vehicle is a 1975 year model or older (This includes motorcycles and trailers.) Diesel-powered vehicle is a 1997 and older year model OR with a Gross Vehicle Weight of more than 14,000 pounds.

I just had to go through this year my car is tuned so I removed the tune and had to unplug the battery for 4 hours so the KAM can be reset then I ran it for 80 miles until all the emissions systems were ready for smog and it passed fine.
Not to be a pessimistic asshole but I'll be surprised if you get through again next time just flashing the stock tune back in.
