I thought after hearing a " woosh " sound that I blew a spark plug. The car gave a code p0340 ( camshaft sensor ).

Today I removed all sparkplug wires one by one and I didn't feel any pressure.

Would a camshaft sensor cause misfiring? Car is misfiring and sounds like a diesel truck, it can limp from one place to another.

A failed cam sensor typically causes multiple attempts of engine startup, but shouldn't cause the misfire you're experiencing. Keep in mind that a failing alternator often causes a P0340 code in these cars, and can also cause misfires.

Racecougar can you list the how to on that and what it should read both in AC and DC for those of us who would like to check ours as well.

Both tests are done with the engine running, preferably around 2k rpm.

To check DC: Set your multimeter to read DC Volts. Put one lead to the B+ terminal on the alternator and the other to the negative battery terminal. You should see between 13 and 14.5 V.

To check AC: Set your multimeter to read AC Volts. Put one lead to the B+ terminal on the alternator and the other to the alternator case. You shouldn't see more than 0.5 AC V.
