My 2001 V6 Coupe Build Thus Far

Hi everyone, I'm a transfer from Modded Mustangs. Almost five years and a few thousand posts is dwindling to an end. The forum is great, but the concentration of stupidity is getting to unsafe levels. In my limited lurking over here I find that I like the people and the content of this site much better. So I figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself and transplant my build thread to this forum.

I'm Corey Ford. I daily a stock-ish 2011 GT (which validates me being a member here), and pour all of my time and money into building my 2001 V6 car. I know it sounds ass backwards, but hear me out. My mom bought the car brand new when I was five years old, and it ended up being my first car. Drove it to high school and made plenty of memories in it. Every bit of work that's been done to it has been done exclusively by me. I've had it down to a rolling shell, and probably have touched most every fastener on the car at least once. It's been engine swapped once (still a V6), plastidipped twice, and is in the process of being completely painted inside and out with real urethane paint at the moment. That's the extremely condensed version, so ask all the questions you'd like, and you can also check out the build on MM: http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums/projects/303789-swift-sixs-build-8-ur-gt.html

Here are some highlights:

Awaiting progress on the paint, and new wheels. The gold wheel fad passed pretty quickly with me lol. I want them gone.

All I ask is to hold back the V6 hate.

Thanks,
Swift

Thanks everyone! I've been good about frequently updating my thread on MM so I'm sure the same will transfer over to here.

Are those SN95 sail panels?

They are! I pulled the sail panels and quarter windows from an sn-95 at the junkyard a while back. Everything fits perfect!

love the color combos you have

and I was wondering what was different about the roof. Those sail panels really set it apart

Welcome to SVTPerformance, Swift. That is an extremely well done V6 Mustang there. What a transformation from when you first got it from your mom. I love the white paint and everything else about it. Nice to see someone doing something a bit out of the ordinary.

Thank you sir! That really means alot. :)

Nice! Any plans for boost?
Actually I believe I'll forego the boost plans that most everyone seems to have. I change my mind alot on it, but the tentative plan as of now is to find a donor fox and swap in a freshened up letter cam 302. It flip flops between that and a 5.3 LS motor.

Good job OP

Thanks!

Thanks!

LS 5.3 man. They are dirt cheap and with a cheap cam and heads will make 325-375rwhp pretty easily and get good MPG. But i am not a purest as some here might be.

Looks good, why not just turbo the v6? They have been known to make some decent power with some boost.

With all of the money that would go into piecing together a turbo kit and supporting mods, I'd have a 300-350ish hp V6 with no room to grow without building it. For the same amount, I could complete the swap, make the same numbers as a turbo V6, with ample room to grow.

Also got the rear brakes finished up today. :rolling:

For the money I have in my Sixxers blower, I have barely enough in it to cover whats needed to swap in a V8. And its barely pushing any boost.
