I'm asking for a little help here for anyone in the North Jersey area. Let me preface this by saying that when I lock my car, I check both doors, the trunk and hood to make sure they are locked twice before I walk away from my car. I am 100% that all doors were locked when I left the car.

Yesterday while I was at work, the stereo from my car was stolen from the park and ride I park at. They managed to get into the car without breaking any windows but took my whole stereo. They took:

Head Unit: Pioneer AVH-P4900DVD (flip out touch screen)
Metra Face Plate (for a ford Escort/Contour)
Sirius in dash radio module for a Pioneer - they did not take the antenna and the unit has been disabled through Sirius
Two 6 1/2 round JL Audio Door speakers with 1 inch wood spacers
Two JL W3v2 12" subs in a sealed box
One Visonik 2800 Watt amp (picture below is what it looks like - I don't have the exact picture of mine)
A 1 farad no-name capacitor - I really don't remember details about this.

They also took my broken radar detector and my car charger for my phone. They left the 20+ CD's I had in the car.
They broke the plastic around my steering column (probably looking for a remote start) and managed to do all this without the ability to open my trunk.
I know this much because i have no trunk pop button and only the key can open it.

Whoever did this knew what the hell they were doing and didn't damage anything else.

This all happened in Old Bridge, New Jersey so if you know of anyone trying to sell components or a system that sound like it may be mine please let me know or contact the Old Bridge Police Department at 732-721-4000.

If you are a member of a local forum in the Jersey/New York area please post this for me. I don't have any illusions that I'm going to find any of this stuff but it can't hurt to try.

Thanks in advance,
Chuck

Sucks to hear. But you really check to see if your hood is closed every time you get out? Really? :dw:

Yea, they didn't do too much damage other than the steering column plastic is F'd. Luckily (or unluckily if that's a word) the door panels are in my shed cuz i was too lazy to put them back on last time i replaced the speakers. And the radio bezel that they took also has all my air controls.

Does your park 'n ride have cameras? The one I parked at in the Seattle-area did, might be something to check if you haven't already.

I eagerly await the "my brother got shot" thread and the other 27 associated threads you'll make about it.

I live in Old Bridge, so I'll be on the lookout for your stuff bro. Hope you can get some of your things back, or they find the guy who did it.

When my Honda Accord was broken into I couldn't find any signs of break in.
The windows were fine and no locks were punched.
I looked closely at the drivers door and noticed a small hole in the weatherstripping.
This hole went right through the weatherstripping into the cockpit.

They pried the door open just enough to punch a coat hanger or something similar through the weatherstripping.
They then used this to unlock the door from the inside.

Check your weatherstripping closely.

No cameras in the lot. There is a Friday's right near there that the Police said they'd check out.

You drive your car without door panels???

that seems rather odd

Yes, it was a project car that I stopped project-ing after I finished the exterior. I've popped the panels on and off so many times I broke a few clips and never went through the trouble of getting new ones. Thanks for the input though.

When I lost my keys at college a few years back I watched the locksmith get into my car in 10 seconds flat without leaving any damage. It's amazing how quick it can be done.

Greatly appreciated sir. I really doubt it'll turn up or they catch the guys but you never know.

That's a very clever way of doing it. On my car you can see where they pried their greasy fingers into the window near the back. If you've ever seen what an Escort ZX2 looks like you'll see it's not that hard to get in.

What amazed me is how they managed to get the box out through the front of the car.

I have open a few locked doors at work with my lock pick set. I picked it up off one of the tool trucks that stop by.

Some of the locks I have opened in a few seconds and some take a few min.
The owners look at me funny when I just walk up and unlock the door like I have a key.

And I for one wouldn't feel bad in the least. You reap what you sow.

might wanna grab a snickers, it'll be a while he's in jail right now :rolling:

btw he carries also, so becareful when you sneak up on someone stealing your shit lol......

i told him one day he'd come across someone like me who carries, he isn't fazed one bit, guess you become numb to it after a while, that or the desperation just makes him take his chances. as i said before i don't condone it......but he has helped a woman get her car unlocked as well in a mall parking lot lol

ya it can be done really really quickly by someone experienced. one day my brother and me got into a small argument about some missing tools, he said "please if i wanted to steal form you'd i'd break in your car and you'd never know, i'd just act like i didin't hear shit".......asshole lol but he's right i would never know, he could just say he was with his wife or something. :nonono:
