I've got a '10 GT500 that should be here sometime :??: within the next few weeks...six weeks? I dunno. Anyway, I'm thinking my first purchase will be a radar detector and was curious what everyone is using??

Thinking about the valentinev1 although seems kinda pricey, or the passport 8500 X50. Any1 using these?

Radar Detectors and Jammers - Reviews & Shopping at Radar Busters

Check it out, good review site.

Personally, I'd take a close look at this one . Latest tech and GPS for false alarms.

Escort Passport 9500ix - Radar Detectors at Radar Busters

I know the V1 people love those detectors, but the fact is, the tech is real old and there is only so much you can do with firmware updates.

Speaking of "pricey", if you live in a state where it is legal you can integrate laser jamming into the new escort:

Thanks for the link. Still seems like more then what I wanted to spend for a radar detector. You can get the v1 direct for 400...I agree it appears dated.

Am I not the luckiest guy in the world? I've been pulled over at least 15 times in several different states, and I now find myself in the ONLY state in which radar detectors are illegal.

I guess I'll just have to stay within the speed limit when my 2010 GT500 arrives. ;-)

I have been on the fence about getting one, and which to get. Anyone on here have it hardwired to their maplight?

+1 My first mod was a valentine 1 and I love it. Picking up radar, it's excellent, with the directional arrows it has, it tells you where the threat is and how many!
You still have to pay attention for little blips from instant on.
Before she goes in gear, V1 is on.

Just buy the radar detector which goes into your dash. Can't see it. The sensors are put in your bumper. A bit more expensive, but you don't have to worry about the communist states that don't allow them.

I have the Escort 9500i and I love it. On the way home from work today it saved me from a cop sitting in a driveway about 20 feet off the road clocking drivers. It has a GPS that allows you to "lock out" false alarm locations. The 9500ci warns you about upcoming red light cameras based on a national database of camera locations. It also auto-learns false alarm location you drive by a false alarm location three times and it locks that false alarm signal out. Both the 9500i and the 9500ci can hook up to the ZR4 laser shifter which shifts [jams] laser signals to save you from laser speed detectors.

A radar detector is a must for these cars as it is way to easy to exceed the speed limit even when you aren't trying to. I haven't owned anything but a Valentine one since they first came out, and would not consider any other detector.
