What is a Mystichrome leather cowhide worth? I was at a dude's house today who had an entire hide! I thought this stuff was hard to come by?

Thanks, I don't need the leather. I was just shocked to see such a large piece. From what I understand the dye used on mystricrhome leather is heavily regulated since it's similar to the dye used on US currency.
Thats only on the mystic by basf, used on the older $20 bill. Mystichrome is Dupont and can be mixed at any Dupont paint store that has access to chromalusion and the vinyl resin to mix it.
Pretty sure I already know who has the hide. I deal with GST for a long time trying to get a hide. I found that the last one was sold to a member of this site. They won't make more unless its a large run which is enough to do all the Mystichrome Cobras made in 04, plus some. If you figure a normal high quality leather hide goes for $300 - $700, and it takes about half a hide to do front and rear seat inserts and the steering wheel, it would get expensive quick. If this guy is interested in selling, there are a few of us who would be willing to pay for it.
I would have bought it at this price for sure. I just called them again to confirm, and their sales guy said people periodically call for this product, but they have no more. Maybe they do, and they don't want to sell. Who knows. I hope someday to find some of this stuff.
They do have some, it's pretty much on hold for Ford.... When my dad got the car new in 04' before giving it to me just a few months ago (mind you I'm 30) the driver seat had to be replaced due to an imperfection in it. Local Shelby trim shop did the replacement as they work with specialty cars. I saw the owner a few weeks ago and was asking him about it, said Fords got a stock pile for those who order though the dealer or need replacement parts from the website. Stuffs not cheap that's for sure but worth every penny for the look.
All the replacement covers are gone, Ford does not have anymore covers or leather and the company that did the leather has none and does not intend to make any more. I'm sure if you look into it you will find I am correct
I got 2 front upper factory mystichrome covers for my car in the spring. There were no other factory replacement covers front or back, upper or lower showing in stock nationwide when the part numbers were scanned.
I got 2 of the last 5 uppers. I really wanted the 2 lowers for the front but none were available. Tousley looked for me. They were over $700.00 for the pair at 10% over from them. I think retail was close to $600.00 + or $700.00+, I cannot remember which. I am in for bidding on the hide if your friend decides to sell.
