Navy SEAL who shot Bin Laden will appear on Fox News

His identity has already been leaked to the public.

"The former Navy SEAL who claims to have shot and killed Osama bin Laden has been identified ahead of a highly anticipated Fox News interview in which he is expected to discuss his role in the historic raid, according to multiple news sources.

Robert O'Neill, a SEAL turned public speaker, has been named by the UK's Daily Mail and the special operations community blog SOFrep.com as the member of SEAL Team 6 who fired the shots that killed bin Laden in a May 2011 raid on the 9/11 mastermind 's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

O'Neill, a former senior chief, has earned two Silver Stars and four Bronze Stars with combat "V" among many other decorations, according to the Mail Online report. He left the service after 16 years.

Naval Special Warfare Command spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Mark Walton said he could not speculate on the identity of the Fox News interview subject. The command will respond after the interview airs, he said. Fox has said it will broadcast the interview Nov. 11 and 12."

Since the info was released by the Taliban it's more like a decoy to get US special forces to stop looking for him.

I think that's stretching it a little too much. He has earned the right to tell his story. Let's see what he has to say first before judging.

SOFREP (ran by special ops guys) were the very first to leak his real name and then posted a follow up article basically bragging about how they were right. That's a disgrace right there.

Bin Laden died in a cave somewhere from kidney failure. Most of the media outlets throughout the world confirmed this. The "american bad-ass rambo raid" as entertaining as it sounds never happened.

None of the different versions of the story are consistent and there was never a body.

What intel do you think we needed from him? He may have been offered an early retirement, they were throwing them out like candy on halloween for awhile.

agree totally correct. People need to realize there are reasons we dont get the full story. sometimes it really is for are safety other times I believe there should be more transparency. As for the Bin Laden stuff. I believe he was killed in 2011. It makes since to me we pushed him in the ocean. The last thing we needed to do was tell everyone that we had his body and bring it back to the U.S. or for that matter keep it anywhere. I do not think the motivation was for his religion, it might have been done to placate the muslims and maybe keep some from getting out of control. maybe they did keep his body, and bring it back but they could not safely telll everyone about it.
I happy we have people like this to get the job done. I believe he has earned the right for many things. But im not sure it was his story to tell or his earned right. Im sure when he entered into all this, he agreed not to speak. but at the end of the day Im happy he and his guys got the job done.

1. They obviously felt his demeanor called for it. They are among the world's best in CQB and have to make choices like that in a millisecond. Intel from a living breathing UBL is not worth a single American life more than all the ones he's taken. They also gathered plenty of valuable intelligence while on target (computers, hard drives, other documents, etc.)

2. Probably because he thought cashing in on the fame would be way worth tossing his pension & benefits. Probably wanted to get in while the ink press was still hot. I'm sure everything going on with Mark Owen right how has tossed a serious wrench into his plan and now is seriously regretting leaving early.
