Once you have a IRS car you will never go back to solid axle. It's a night and day difference in ride quality, handling, and overall fell of the car. I had a 96 cobra and now a 99 I would not go back to the 96 cobra even with 100 more HP that is how much I love the IRS. If you live in a area with potholes, crappy streets like Chicago you will love the IRS. And the way it rides on the highway for long drives is well worth it.

IRS> live axle

and it is worth the headache and $$

There are many on Corral who did it and love it. Any true sports car has IRS live axle is good for trucks, delivery vans even the new SUV have irs instead of solid axle.

Thank you fatboy, that's the info I am looking for. Someone who has owned both.

And for everyone else, I'm not looking for an american iron suspension setup. Just something that will handle well and ride better. The IRS is both those. I could achieve better handling with a built solid but why would I spend $700 on parts when I could swap to the IRS for NOTHING and still get the better ride with good handling. For my needs the solid has no advantage.
