Hey guys! I have a build I’m documenting in the new edge cobra forum. I’m posting here because I just found a set of 2000 Cobra R heads for sale near me and I’m not sure they are going to be worth the drive and purchase for my build. It isn’t a big bore build but it is a twin turbo build. My questions are, how can I tell if they are in decent shape? Is there anything special I should be looking for? They come with cams but I’m not sure they are 00 Cobra R cams, is there anyway to determine this? And lastly does anyone have any experience with these heads in a 4.6 forced induction build? You need special intake manifold ( FR500C )

Yea I got that from a lot of the reading. Although I have read of people that say they have used both 99-01 and 03-04 intakes on them with some modifications. That said I have only read these things. Not seen pictures or first hand accounts of such things being done. So whether it’s true or not has yet to be actually seen. More likely than not if I get these heads I’ll be getting the correct intake instead of trying to modify my 99 Cobra intake.

I’m waiting for a call back from the seller to determine if I will be going to look at them today. In the meantime if anyone has any information to help me identify and make sure these are the real deal, and any info on how to make sure they are in useable shape on the spot would be awesome! Thanks guys!

Ok , take a pictures and copy the casting number of both heads .

I have the engine manual and grabbed a few screen shots of the heads. Do any of these help:

Don't get them, it is not worth the hassle to make an intake fit. If you read ,I think it was john mihovetz, they gained no power switching to GT500 heads, only longer life from the heads on their race engines. I can post pictures of GT500 intake on 99/01 cobra intake.

GT500 and Navi intake gaskets. The Navi intake gasket has a significantly larger port than what the heads and intake have.
