I'm seriously considering buying the car in the link above but not sure if it's worth the price. SS seem to come in lots of different prices even if it's the same year and about the same mileage so trying to find a baseline price for one has proven to be a bit difficult.

I've never owned a shelby before but I've been stalking this page daily for about two years now looking for that perfect car (to my personal liking). A Super Snake is my dream car but 07 or 08 are the only years in my price range.

I would love to hear some of your personal opinions and thoughts before I make my decision. Thanks in advance.

Also please let me know if I need to move the post to a different thread.

Unless it’s the first or last Super Snake of that year I don’t see it being worth that much.

    Pick your poison.

Unless you " have to have an 08 SS ", with that kind of budget, there are some nice rides to be had..

You would have to be crazy to pay that much for that car. As stated, much better rides to be had for the money.

Does it have to be a SS? Are you going to drive it? There are a buttload of newer Shelby's on the market for $20K less.

Not a daily driver for sure regardless of the shelby I get. Looking for a car J can keep for a long time.

No it doesn't HAVE to be a SS but the SS is the ultimate shelby is it not.

The regular 2013/14 GT500s are better than the 2007-2010 Super Snakes.

You could get a really nice 13/14 for that kind of money, probably even a bit cheaper too. There's a few on here for sale.

It all boils down to what you want and what you want to spend, if I had that type of money I wouldn't have even thought about getting a 07-09 GT500.

What is it that makes you think a Super Snake is so special? All Super Snakes started out like any other GT500. Just because you sent it to Shelby to install some upgrades, doesn't make it any better or faster than one brewed up with similar modifications in your own garage. Shelby did not pull the engine apart and rub unicorn dust on anything either. It's still a basically stock motor. Granted the styling is nice, but that can be replicated too.

Resale may not be on par with a SS, but then no one paid the Shelby tax. If you think having the Shelby logo on your parts is worth the extra coin, then I doubt anyone will convince you otherwise. Unless I was a collector, bought a GT500, sent it for a SS conversion and squandered it away so maybe my grandchildren could benefit from it, I personally don't see it worth the investment. If I can't drive it and enjoy it, I don't need it.

An SS conversion is a " cookie cutter " approach to modding. You can spend thousands less, have the same or better performance, but no CSM #. It all depends on what's important to you..

Have you driven a newer Shelby, or any Shelby’s for that matter? The power and rip your face off torque will give you a demented child’s smile every time. If you’re near me, I’ll give you a ride to demonstrate.

That would be the one of the 20 Shelby 1000s Shelby American intended to build. Don't know if they reached that threshold nor not.
