I’ve got a tough decision to make and I wanted to hear from some of my fellow member’s. Next year I’ll be able to buy a new car but I can only afford around $45K. Of course that limits me to a few cars. Cars that would interest me in that price range is a Shelby GT 500 or a used 911/Viper/Vette/etc. I want to keep my 03 Cobra but that’s the rub. Do I really want two Mustangs in the garage? Now if I sell the Cobra maybe I can swing a new 08 ZO6. With the new ZR1 coming out am hoping that I can find a nice new 08 ZO6 still on the lot for way under MSRP or should I keep the Cobra and buy a used 911/Viper/Vette. What do would you do? Here’s a list of the vehicles I have now. Given these tough ecomonic times this may not be the time to ask but it is a question I need answered.

06 Jeep Commander Limited 4x4
04 Nissan Titan
03 Mustang Cobra
99 Escort (son’s ride)

Keep the cobra, and **** buying a new car.

1. Get yourself an 06 R6 and track it the **** out
2. Get qualified to do solo sky diving
3. take flying lessons

GM is gonna go under so what's gonna happen when you need some warranty work done on the Z06?

^ What SSJ said...only instead of 1,2, and 3 you should spend it this way:

1. Send all but 30 dollars to my bank account

2. Be happy you helped out a fellow SVTP member

3. Spend 30 dollars on beer and celebrate!

Do you mean January '09 or this time next year? I don't really know what to tell you other to wait until next year when you are actually looking. No real point in speculating a year ahead of time for a car that you think you may buy. Do you really want to pay for and insure five cars?

i'd say sell the cobra since you're not happy with it and get a gt500. but for 45K, i don't think you'll be affording anything new.

I figure the sale of the Cobra for $20k plus the $45K and am in the ballpark for an 08 ZO6. MSRP is $72K and with the new ZR1 out plus it's a 08 being sold in 09 I should be able to get a great deal. The dealers are hurting for bussiness and I can work them for a great deal. That's contigent on their still being an 08 sitting around. Who knows but I just wanted to see what everyone thought.

The Idea of selling the cobra to your son sounds good if he wanted it. If you want to pay insurance on all those keep the cobra and pick up a low mileage 06 Z for around 50k. If you sold the cobra still go pick up a used Z if thats what you want. Why buy new? Even though 06's dont have all the extra leather treatment inside they are also the lightest year of the c6Z.

My common sense says to put off on buying big ticket items, it would be cheaper to hotrod your 03 and make it faster and handle better then just flat out buying a new car, of course this is just me.

Our economy is going to get worse before it gets any better.

There's always a car in our lives that we sell, only to regret it later. if you sell the Cobra, i think you'll kick yourself. sounds to me that you don't really want to let her go.
How's this? can you sell ONE of your 2 trucks? then that and the 45 grand will probably get you into a Viper if you shop around, especially since you have a year to do it
