POINTS
  • California’s clean-air regulators introduced a plan this week that would ramp up the sale of electric and zero-emissions vehicles while phasing out the sale of new gasoline-fueled vehicles by 2035.
  • The proposal, if enacted by the California Air Resources Board, would require 35% of new passenger vehicle sales to be powered by batteries or hydrogen by 2026, and 100% of sales to be net-zero emissions less than a decade later.
  • The proposal also calls for zero-emissions sales to account for 68% of total sales by 2030.

35% of all new car sales - how many new cars are typically sold per year out in that shit hole? I feel like there wont even be enough annual EV production by then even if every EV was sold in Cali

When are they going to start making electric planes and cargo ships? I hear they pollute a little bit.
Cargo ships are taken care of. Didn't you see the recent story of a company testing the outfitting of the large cargo ships with a fabric wind catching device that would aid in propulsion. LMFAO that no one working on the project said, "dude, that is a ****ing sailboat. They have been around for like 5,000 years..."

Hope this happens. Will be fun to watch and will bring some reality to all those wishful thinkers that believe we are currently anywhere close to having the tech/infrastructure for this to be viable.

Cali dictates to the rest of us.. like it or not.

The switch is gonna be just like the internet or smartphones.
We're only gonna remember what it used to be like.

Nothing to do but accept, adapt and move on... or delete...whatever.

Why on earth companies don’t start making 49-state legal vehicles, mowers, appliances etc. I will never understand. CA has everything by the balls for no good reason. Make 49-state legal stuff for the rest of us and we save a ton of money, then CA will have to follow suit.

Need to split California into +3 separate states. That would solve a lot of this. Just look at how many states are on the East Coast - now imagine they where all one big state - NYC and DC would run the whole thing.
