After 8 years of daily duty for the cobra, i added a 19 explorer sport to take over. Still gonna drive the cobra few times a week, but this mostly. Just got it yesterday. Pretty fun.
Good looking Sport, we picked up a new one in 13’ when they came out. Definitely address that PTU fluid like Lambeau posted above, that’s a great video tutorial.
Power Transfer Unit, definitely watch that video when you can.
I had a Taurus pi with the 3.5 ecoboost (built on the same platform) and loved the power of that thing. Even the suv is quick given it’s weight. Nice buy.
Definitely change the PTU fluid on decent intervals. Our work suv had one and we forgot to have the dealer change the fluid. It went bad after 100k. Not cheap
Cool color. Honestly, I've don't think I've seen that color before.
Make sure to change it every 20-30k miles. There's also a lil air dam that goes directly to the PTU from the passenger side, make sure you tighten this well.
Outside of the water pump and PTU, you'll have a great strong SUV. Loved mine, wish I tuned it before I got rid of it.
^ appreciate the insight. def helpful. this is a totally new platform for me.
i have certified and ext warranty on it for the next 8 years. hopefully those items are covered if something happens, outside the service of the PTU which i know im responsible for.
