Well, a year ago next month, I spun a bearing in the motor supercharged Taurus SHO on track (road course). It's taken a year for me to get all the parts I've needed for the rebuild, and I also bought a few more parts that have nothing to do with the motor. Aside from machine work, I'm doing everything myself. It's been a fun, yet long project since parts can be difficult to find. Here's the specs on the build...

Motor

-3.2L (bored from a 3.0L)
-9.5:1 compression Wiseco Pistons
-Flash ground, polished, shot peened, new bushings, and resized rods
-24k mile crankshaft, balanced, and micropolished
- +1mm SI Valves
-Bronze valve guides
- 3-angle valve cut
- FPS valve springs
-Stage 1 cams
-Brand new (0 mile) oil pump
-Brand new STOCK flywheel
-Clutchmasters stage III Clutch
-New timing chains
-Ceramic coated exhaust manifolds
-Powdercoated intake/valve covers/charge pipe/etc
-BBB's, EH, gasket matching/etc

Transmission

-Shot peened gears and input shaft
-Shimmed
-New brass blocking rings

There's more stuff, but my memory is not that great...

Anyway, here are some pics!

This is why I hate changing cams in these damn heads... The threads strip out so easy when installing the cam caps. I have a total of 13 helicoils in these bastards. If I ever have to have a head redone, I think I'd helicoil all the threads before trying to put it back on the rest of the motor.

I should have the car back on the road by October. I'm looking at how I'm going to run an oil cooler and large lines at the moment. I've done away with the stock heat exchanger, but there's not much room to put a thermostatic sandwhich and have some lines come out of it... Eventually, I'll get it all figured out. I'm also looking at a carbon fiber cowl hood, but I'll probably have it painted.

Once broken in, I'll hit the dyno with the old pulley to see how well the new motor is breathing compared to the stock motor on the same pulley. After that, I'll be dropping from a 3.6" to a 3.2" pulley and see what kind of numbers I can really make! We're speculating 450-520 at the wheels.

Looks awesome. Don't see too many SHO builts. Everything looks kick ass. The powdercoating looks incredible. Where are they located?

The place is called HyperCoat. They used to have a website, but I don't know what happened to it. They are located in Texas.

I'll have videos and dyno numbers as soon as I am able :)

Got the exhaust manifolds back. I had them ceramic coated to help keep the under-hood temps down.

The motor goes in this Sunday!

I've always liked the way that motor looked, congrats on getting it rebuilt. I'd say its the nicest 3.0 I've seen

I'm going to tell you that that is one of the nicest engines I've ever seen. Built well and a complete work of art. I'm at a loss for words on this one.
