FLAME SUIT ON HERE!

after going through 2 4.6 motors (original spun a rod at 150k. 2nd one snapped a timing chain 5 minutes into startup) and 3+ years of my cobra being down, I started looking a built long block to finally do things the right way. I couldn't find any locally that I could check out in person, but my good buddy offered up his H/C/I forged 347 from his 2000 firebird. He was selling the roller, and I got a great deal on the long block. the motor has milled/ported AFR 205s, custom grind cam, ported FAST 90, etc.

it took a lot of research and time spend spinning my wheels, but searching the threads on here helped a ton. It was well worth the swap!

Ended up putting down 450/404 to the ground. I was hoping for more, but I'll see how it does at the track.

behind the LS motor is a c6z06 trans converted to work in an Fbody trans from a member here. I also bought MM's Grip box to help it take corners well. that included coil overs all the way around, pan hard bar, torque arm, tubular K member and control arms, and eibach sway bars.

after much thought, the current headlights are probably going to be replaced with some stock ones.

anyways, heres the pics of my long term finished (for now) project.

First LS swap I've seen done to an SN...Bad ass in my opinion. How difficult was the swap and what kinda numbers is it putting down?

I think you should get a plate that said: LSWHAT just to confuse people. That would be funny

Thanks! It actually wasn't too hard to swap. They make a lot of stuff to help with the install. got motor mount adapters from Dirty Dingo so I could use my MM k-member. Had to buy the MM K-member spacers to give myself a little extra clearance and ordered a PSI stand alone harness to make it all work. Stared at wiring diagrams for a while to figure out how to get the car started without the Cobra Computer. New trans fit great after some love with a BFH and even was able to use my 03 cobra DS from my previous T56 swap. The trans mount even bolted in the factory T45 location on the subframe.

I just edited my OP, it put down 450/404!

To this day I regret not going with an LS motor in my '97 Cobra when the original blew. :(

Nice car OP!

Thanks! I'm definitely happy with the new platform. Hard to beat the sound of a big cam. Lol.

Thanks! It'll be getting a 150 shot on top of this later on!

awesome! shoulda painted the engine bay while the motor was out though

Thanks! I painted it semi gloss black when I installed the 2nd 4.6. Looking back I should've re-painted it when this one went in.

That car is beautiful. The swap isn't my thing, but I bet from a performance aspect the LS motor is pretty sweet.

great job!

I appreciate the time and money that went into the project, but it is no longer a Mustang IMO. If you weren't happy with the 4.6(sounds like you had bad luck with the 2nd engine) Ford makes many more options.

absolutely love your car! just gorgeous!

one thing that kinda stuck out to me was the headlights, i'm not sure if they are aftermarket, but they don't flow well with the rest of the car. they pop a bit too much.

Not trying to be a dick, just sharing something i noticed. Besides for that...everything is gorgeous.
