Wrong. The Camaro beat the Boss by 3 seconds on the road course. The Boss only got 1 lap in before blowing the motor so no chance to improve on its time.

This was back in mid 90s(when the monster boss was built, faceoff was in 2000). I remember reading about the boss build initially in muscle mustangs and fast fords when I was a kid.

Yeah, I went and read it again and got it backwards. I knew the Ford broke in round 1 and they fixed it, but I thought it was the Chevy that broke in round 2.
I used to obsess over the Boss 10.0l when I was a teen. Big reason why I love Mustangs and Ford Performance. Didnt realize til reading it again that Chevy used a Donavan race motor? Seems a little weak to put a motor in built by someone else.

Agreed. Plus the 572 crate engine had been available for a couple of years prior to the shootout, no reason not to have their own built engine in the car.
