Lost a ton of weight.WTF is up with its arm? Looks like Stretch Fatarms got too close to an open flame and started melting.

Weatherman can chime in as I haven't finished my degree yet, but I don't think so. Even using the equation I know for the theoretical maximum updraft speed (which vastly over estimates the speed - so much so that meteos will divide the number by 2 or 3) you get anywhere from 150 - 200kts for maximum updraft speed which is over a very limited distance. So I don't see the vertical velocity being faster. MAYBE the updraft might have areas where its instantaneous acceleration is greater than max climb rate of f16, but not for a significant distanceAn airforce pilot buddy of mine told me that the updraft of a forming thunderstorm can be so powerful it can out climb an F16
Dont know if thats true, but its interesting to think about.

There are a ton of variables at play here so there's no real definitive answer (on both sides - max climb rate of jet and updraft of supercell)

Thank you for confirmation.Pretty much right on. A Cessna 172 would be in a world of hurt. The Air Force did a lot of penetrations into storm cells with a F-106 back in the day conducting research.
Thank you for confirmation.
A commercial plane made the mistake of flying through a supercell in the late 70s in Georgia (southern airlines I think it was), it didn't end well
