Also called carmine. It is from the roach family. My wife is allergic to it.

It took years to figure out. The last episode years ago happened from a red colored anti biotic.

Can you believe they put roach parts in medicine just for coloring? I did get a hold of the fda, and they said it doesn't effect enough people to warrant change.

Believe it or not, there are people who fell for this social media joke and do believe bits of human flesh are in the wafers. But there IS a somewhat gross ingredient call cochineal, a scale insect that is ground and used as a red food dye. It's also found in red Skittles and red M&Ms.

I read an article a few months back that England did a study on all the red food dyes. Red 40 was put on a list of mind altering substances. Thats why kids go buck wild after eating things that contain it
