Hardy har har. :poke: I did hit 7600 in the waterbox one time by accident. I though my motor was going to shit a valve out my muffler. Luckily it didnt'.

But I think Bill (Angus) and 03AV8R should have the most knowledge on shifting mach's since they are the 2 fastest stock blocks. Ask them where they shift.

oh and F you all with your damn mach heads. :cuss: I hate you all. :D

-Mark

LOL...you know I was messin' with you Mark.

Billy, Rodney, Roy, and Bill (M1M) are all of the best that's for sure. Maybe I'll just have to PM them and let them put in their two cents. Their cars aren't anywhere near what the OP's is, BUT, they are stock long blocks. IDK if htey have 5 spds or Auto's though.

EDIT: here's a quick search on the registry.

http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showthread.php?t=88081&highlight=shift+points

Third poster pulled a 13.2 with a drop in as only mod and shifted a tad above my suggestion. Bill (m1m) suggested tad higher rpm than that. No one says anything about 7k in any gear. First gear change should be higher because of gearing...of course. As K stated you have to fiddle around and see.

But I agree with mystical. I think a stock hp mach w/ 3.55's should never been going into 4th.

Hey....RETARD......show me WHERE THE **** I stated you should NOT shift into fourth.

YET ANOTHER stupid remark on your behalf...let's summarize should we:

a) shift at 7k cause it's a 4V.
b) your 'friend' trapped 108-110 BONE STOCK
C) I posted a Time slip.
b) I mentioned shifting to 4th was a good idea.

WOWO......you're racking up the stupidity today kid.

Reading comprehension owns you:dw: You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground.

Out of everything Pony said you mention Mark agreed about not shifting into 4th? Its not like a Cobra with 4.10 gears that make you shift RIGHT at the line (yep, suprise! I've driven a bolt on N/A Cobra too). In the Mach I was shifting into 4th about 50 yards away from the trap. Oh and I ran 13.5 in a BONE STOCK 99 Cobra.... But hey, what do I know. I'm a newb at the track :lol1:

Which is precisely what I've been arguing this entire thread. News flash Einstein, Machs have 3.55's not 4.10's:idea::dw:

:dw: what are you talking about? The powerband of the Mach will have you shifting into 4th 50 or so yards before the traps. The 99-01 Cobras with 4.10s put you @ 7,000rpms in 3rd gear right at the trap. I haven't tried holding in 3rd gear in a Mach but shifting or not shifting into 4th is very off topic in this thread.

BTW have you found any proof of your car?

ByeBye for now! :loser:

If you cant post up your proof GTFO!

Ok did some maf.... thats slang for math. lol.

Anyhoo.... 26" tire/3650 in 3rd which is 1.32/3.55's...

Engine Speed (RPM) Speed (MPH)
8000 RPM 132.05 MPH
7500 RPM 123.80 MPH
7000 RPM 115.55 MPH
6500 RPM 107.29 MPH
6000 RPM 99.04 MPH
5500 RPM 90.79 MPH
5000 RPM 82.53 MPH
4500 RPM 74.28 MPH
4000 RPM 66.03 MPH
3500 RPM 57.77 MPH
3000 RPM 49.52 MPH
2500 RPM 41.27 MPH
2000 RPM 33.01 MPH
1500 RPM 24.76 MPH
1000 RPM 16.51 MPH

A. what is the rpm limiter on those Mach's
B. Stopsign- what mph were you at passing the traps?

FWIW, when I race 1/8th I'm in the same boat. Coming up on the limiter in 3rd. I just leave it in 3rd. I'll either tap the stock limiter or just make it by like 10ft. But now I raised it to 7300 so I don't have that problem anymore.

I believe limiter is 7k w. redline at 6800....It's been a while since I've needed to look at that though, seems how i'm not a ricer and don't bounce off of it. LOL

You're shifting way too early. You need to shift each gear at 7K, especially since you don't have gears.

I hope that was sarcasm. :dw:

:lol::beer:

Not at all.

Past redline? It's a mach 1, they rev to 7000 stock. He needs to keep the rpms up as high as possible to keep it in the powerband. Short-shifting it at 6200 will result in the car falling on it's face in the next gear, not having gears will make it even worse.

Not to mention, a basically stock mach should still be in third crossing the traps. He shouldn't be shifting into fourth.

None, but having a '96 and a '98 Cobra, I think I know a thing or two about these 4V's;-)

What I know for sure is that a stock geared Mach with only a CAI and exhaust should not be shifting into fourth. The reason he is running out of gear is because he's shifting way too soon. This is not a GT, it will rev to 7K all day long.

Good idea, I'm willing to bet they're not shifting at 6200:lol:

Whatever dude, keep analyzing other people's dyno sheets:lol: The car will spin to 7K rpm, use it. I bet shifting into fourth right before the traps is really helping his et:rollseyes

Not bad considering he's short-shifting like no tomorrow but nothing that hasn't been eclipsed by shifting where you're supposed to and winding out third gear.

My buddies bone stock Mach consistently trapped 108-110. He's now running mid 11's with full bolt-ons, shifting at 7K. But I guess he must not know what he's doing:thumbsup:
UH....

Reading comp. Owns me?.......Dipshit you don't even know you're own ****ing posts. YOu mentioned trap gears three times?...and HOW MANY about shift points?

I must resort to the below.

Ok found a thread from one of Bill's recap of his visit to the track.

"Launch was 6800 rpm for both runs & slick pressure was 13.5 psi (hot) for the 1st run & 15.5 psi (hot) for the second run.

I set the shift light @ 6500/6500/6000 for both runs & ended-up shifting at:

6950/6740/6260 rpms for the 1st run

and

7070/6790/6310 rpms for the second run."
