haha...Where in post #1 from the OP say what particular kind of heads he was talking about? This is a Ford site so I made a broad answer ... that's why I said inspection should be done according to who you got them from. One of the shops Ultra Street cars got a set of Victors from Fox Lake CNC'd & fully assembled, we put them on the flow bench out of the box and the numbers where Epic'ly Stellar... So Yup...

FYI I've seen good quality control from the assembled Edelbrock aluminum heads.

Valve springs and retainers are often junk...always good to have them checked or upgraded.

Yup adding a high lift cam/cams to a weak or mismatched spring could end badly..
