I have MAC Longtubes, UPR K member, and a MAC O/R Prochamber(Aluminized) sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. Before install I want to paint/ cleanup the prochamber before install. I am not so happy with the finish and am after a cleaner look with durability in mind.

After look on here l, I have seen anything from powder coat, to high temp ceramic paint, to plastidip used on exhaust systems? What is my best option here in terms of durability. I don't want this to fail in a few months or a year.

Also another question regarding the K-member any clear finish that will help the coating on the chrome headers and chromoly K. I aiming to make finish last longer and make cleaning easier.

Just looking for additional ideas here, thanks in advance! Here are some photo's, the new puppy was enjoying the new mods as much as I was. These were big toys for him, good thing he quickly realized they weren't chew toys.

for the exhaust i plan on using rust-oleum high heat part number 7716 heat resistant silver on my exhaust. My system is very pitted and has allot of grime. for the k member i would use a good polish and wax then in the spot welds put silcone paste (vasiline) to help prevent the weld from bleeding rust due to mosture.. This is awsome you are doing this now before the damage is already done. ill sub this thread and i shoot allot of you tube videos so when my exhaust is done i will post the rest. this vid is just a test vid but check it out to see my before exhaust. also if you can subscribe to me on youtube thanks man and good luck with the preventitive maintnance.

I know there's a member on the site who has a painted exhaust. His name escapes me tho. He is located north of the border and drives a Sonic Blue coupe on anthracite FR500s. He painted his a silverish color. I remember it looked really sharp. All I can remember to help you find his name is he posted a picture thread titled "Sonic Splooge" or "Splurge", that stuck with me for some reason.

I sanded my cat back then did vht high temp black with 5 coats then a clear and it looks great and actually runs so much cooler. After a spirited drive I can touch the pipes bare handed no problem. Which is what I wanted In order to keep hear off the diff

Yeah I plan on cleaning mine up with steel wool and welding some of the joints. I bought some high temp primer and some VHT flat black exhaust paint, then curing it on the car.

Thank you all for the advice so far, I am fine on the paint process with the Prochamber, but I am wondering what I could do for added protection for the K and headers. Wax/sealant will help but will wear in a few months time. Unless it has a reaction and bakes on during the first drive cycle?

torched i dont think you can do much about the headers unless you do a ceramic coating which would defeat the whole chrome thing. the k member is easy use a super light scuff pad then clear then wax and seal. Or just clear it .. you can try plasti dip. no scuff spray on. You can also paint over the plasti dip whith any color you want and if in a year or 2 you want to change the color just peal it off and start over . not to change subject but were did you get your k member with stock style purches they seem hard to find now and days.

My Mac's are ceramic coated and held up just fine. My lethal or/x is aluminized I think and I didn't touch it paint wise and it held up mint. I took it off to pull my trans and it looked brand new. When I had my upr or/x with stock manifolds I painted it with high temp paint in silver and that held up pretty good. As long as you're not driving in shit weather I don't see the reason to paint it IMO.

I painted my Flowmaster Cat Back a while back. It was leaking water from condensation where it clamped together and was corroding and had a few scrapes on it. I cleaned it up and sanded out the bad spots. Welded it up where it clamps and painted it with a high heat Ford Argent Wheel paint.

Read these high temp paints. They need to have the solvents burnt off to actually work well and not just burn/peel off. Baking off is best, for larger parts a heat gun would do the trick.

I am using a caliper paint on mine, but I will check the can as I do have a heat gun!

Let me know if you need any help. I'd love to powder coat/ceramic coat it all up for you. :)
