My guess is Rodas overcooked the turn...knew he couldn't touch the brakes...especially in the CGT. He had to get off the throttle anyway which had the same effect as hitting the brakes in any rear weighted car...and then lost it completely. He ran out of room with no way to stop...or even slow down...without spinning the car. Even highly experienced road racers have called the CGT's handling...scary.

^^ Definitely a possibility.

One of the tires recovered from the wreckage was dated to 2004, so it was the original tire this car came off the lot with. That's an old tire, on a low mileage car that sat around parked a lot... If he pushed those old tires through that turn, a blowout is a real possibility.

The CGT has a TPMS, so when the Porsche specialists read the data off the black boxes this month, they should be able to tell if a tire suddenly lost pressure prior to the impact.

...dam. I always liked that guy. There's a lot of folks in that biz that are cool to watch on "the screen" but few that I'd want to truly just hang out with, chew the fat over a beer and honestly get to know.

PW was one of those guys.

I agree 100% everything I see about him seems like he was just one hell of a guy!!!

If you check out his car collection on youtube he was a huge mustang enthusiast, especially foxbodys'

I was shocked at how many saleens he had. I think it was 12-13? Bunch of fox saleens, rare ones. I saw one extreme new edge saleen but that was a 2002 I think or maybe 2003. I didn't think he was that big of a mustang fan. Needless to say that collection is stout with some sick rides

The driver is absolutely at fault for Paul's death. If he survived he would've been charged and thrown in jail

Not sure but I think vehicular manslaughter. He was obviously speeding and driving recklessly

I don't think I've ever heard of a driver killing a passenger and getting charged with manslaughter when alcohol/narcotics wasn't a factor. I'd say it's highly unlikely he would be charged with anything.
