Here's something some of you petrol heads may find interesting.

This was the result of some extensive testing recently in Germany to see how fast these production cars really are. The tests where made as fair as possible and as reproduciable as possible and where timed using multiple GPS timing equipment.

If you believe a certain car to be faster then remeber this is how fast it was under these atmospheric and local conditions. So if it could be faster at a different venue then so would all of the others.

It shows just what good value both the C6 Z06 and Ford GT really are. Almost level with the £300,000 Mercedes SLR.

Enjoy! :D

Good Post. I would've thought the Zo6 would've been closer to the GT in top end. The 0-186 is further apart than one would guess.

The Bugatti is retarded fast. Retarded. Look at the cars in the top half of the list and how objectively fast they are, and all of them take more than double the time to hit 300kph. That's not bus lengths, that's football fields.

I still don't believe the 599 numbers. Unless of course Ferrari has magic to make a heavier car with less hp and tq go faster than a lighter car with more power and torque, and AWD...on a damp track...:rolleyes:

I thought the Viper would've faired better on the top end department, the GTS can do 185. I guess a diet is needed

I assume you are comparing it to the Murcielago, they have the same pwr/weight ratio, 380hp/tonne.

But the 599 has a lower top speed which implies that it is lower geared, in which case it should be able to hit the 186mph a little quicker.

LP640 = 631/487 & 3670 lbs
599 = 612/448 & 3722 lbs

631>612
487>448
3670<3722

3670/631 = 5.81lb/hp
3722/612 = 6.08lb/hp

Obviously power-to-weight can't tell the whole story, but the 599 positively waxes the LP640 to each speed. Those 599 weight I've seen has been listed as 3722 at multiple different sources. Wonder why it's lower by a long shot in this particular test. If it is more like 3500 lbs it makes marginally more sense. The torque on the LP640 is also erroneously listed as 410. The old Murci was 479, this one is 487.

i think the big difference is the tranny. the 599 is one of the best auto's in game and the murc is a manual driven by journalist. even saving .1 every shift would give one a decided advantage in power.

do we have any idea on what they put down to the wheels? is the 599 all wheel drive, the awd in the murc can eat up power as well?

also the article list the 640 as heavier than the 599. 1665 to 1610.

From what I understand the z06's 5th gear kills it.

I remember reading that a 186mph punch in a buggatti veyron has a much throwback as the new Z at 100, or a Ford 500 at 40mph..... Thats a lotta juice left, and just the ability to have enough peace and quiet in the cabin at 186mph to make a phone call is a technological breakthrough in and of itself even if it did not make production.

Who needs all that though, when you can throw 1.2million in the new z06 :rolleyes: hehe

Nah KB Cobra's are cool and on the right setup should be fine. But seriously even with over 600rwhp it wouldn't be right behind the Bugatti after 18.6 seconds it would still be a good distance back.

The Veyron traps over 140mph in the 1/4.

Also remember the faster you go the more aerodynamics will start and playa role. Just look at the GT vs z06.

Still it would be cool to see what some modified cars could acheive under the same conditions.

I am a new member to this site and noticed you have a procharger on your 00GT. I have an 01 and was wanting to do the same and was wondering if you were satisfied with your setup? What other mods do you have and how much RWHP?
